I found on Travelocity that the Maasdam does an 11 night roundtrip out of Norfolk, VA to the Southern Caribbean. According to Travelocity, there are departures on November 5th and 26th. I can't seem to find these on any other website. Why would that be? I want to shop around for the best price for the cruise. Does HAL only work with Travelocity?

Hi etoile,

I don't know where you are looking but they just came up for me on 2 different sites.
Try this, If they don't come up under Southern Caribbean, try just Caribbean.
Sometimes the search engines get confused with all the different "Caribbean" choices on some sites.

Oh, I found it on Expedia! Same prices as Travelocity. Does anyone have tips for where to get a discount?

Oh, I have another question about the itinerary itself...seen here:

Why does the ship only spend an hour at Cabrits, Dominica? It goes on to spend 7 hours at Roseau, Dominica on the same day...?

Cabrits is a pick up/drop off point for ships tours, thats why they are only there for an hour...jean

Just checked prices at www.travelvaluecenter.com (http://www.travelvaluecenter.com) - they are lower than Travelocity.

Good luck! - Jane

Yes, the ship will offer one tour that will either begin or end in Cabrits depending on the ship's schedule.

It is an all day tour that includes the NMerald Pool and Carib Indian Culture and their history. There is a fare amount of walking involved.

On;y those passengers who sign up for this tour and get on/off the tenders in Cabrits.

Oh wow! I had no idea. Thank you for filling me in! I would be especially interested in the Caribs, having learned a bit about them when I spent a week in Grenada. Perhaps I shall have to take that tour if I ever make it there. :)

I'm confused as well .......

26Nov is supposed to be sailing from Tampa, here it's mentioned from Norfolk. Did HAL change the port? We'll be sailing from Norfolk instead of FL?

Norfolk ..... is that by Delaware? Dela-WHERE?

Sorry newt, couldn't resist!

>: )

Seriously, the 11/26 is a 14 day from TPA.
Perhaps the travelocity site made a slight error in the dates.
I'd look around the other websites, and make some comparisons.
Good luck!

Try "hollandamerica.com" - you'll find lots of information about the schedule and the port stops.
