We are on the Westerdam in November. We had cabin VF 5061. TA moved us to VD 4167. I realize this is supposed to be an upgrade but how? 4167 is more aft and 1 deck lower, 5061 is midship, I don't get it? Any help from previous cruisers. Thanks.

5061 has an approximately 40 sq ft verandah, while 4167 has a 67 sq ft one! 5061 is just above a lifeboat, and partially obstructed looking down. 4167 is nearer the "food" end of the ship. :D

Deck 4 has a larger balcony than deck 5. I would take deck 4 over deck 5. We have been on both. Decks 5 and above, all the balconies are "flush." If you look down, you can't see into another balcony because it is the exact size and right under you. Deck 4 balconies stick out further to cover over the life boats. I would guess it extends at least 3 feet out further.

Did your TA give you a reason for moving you?
The cabins are the same size.
But I do agree that the VF is closer to mid-ships than VD.

We are in 4160 on Oct 25 2009-chose it for unobstructed view-larger balcony-near elevator to go anywhere especially quick to the food and pool

VD balconies are 1.5 ft deeper than the VA/VB/VC above them, but I don't see how that has anything to do with the lifeboats!

Agreed! The VD balconies aren't covering any life boats - they are next to them at best:

Thanks for the answer. I will keep them as they are defintely larger than VF and even though over the dining room, it should pose no problem at night.
