Hello fellow NY'er! The Noordam was our 1st HAL ship as well and we fell in love with her and HAL as well. HAL cruise # 5 coming up in August! I'm sure you will have a wonderful time. Be prepared to be spoiled, greeted with a smile by every one of the crew, fresh flowers everywhere - even on the tables on Lido deck, excellent food (be prepared to gain a few pounds!)--and---keep reading everything you can on Cruise Critic--you will find all kinds of helpful info here! Hellow from another NYer (upstate)--we are trying HAL for the first time too. Our first trip was on Celebrity which we enjoyed. We have heard all good things and really looking forward to HAL (esp. the 24 hour room service).
While this Message Board is great about learning about HAL & the Noordam, you should go over to the Private Roll Calls and look under HAL/Noordman for your sailing, so you can meet people going on your cruise--you might even be able to sign up to share some privare excursions (mostly all cheaper than what HAL offers).
