Hi!
If we want a nice view of HMC and the beach from our balcony, which side should we book? Thanks!

We have had verandahs on the port side. And for most of the day, we were able to see HMC.

I don't know that the ship is anchored exactly in the same orientation from visit to visit, ship to ship. Been to HMC 3 times and so far it's been one port (Oosterdam), one starboard (Ryndam), and one head-on (bow to beach) (Ryndam). Only leaves the stern pointing toward the beach as an option so maybe we'll get that the next visit. :) I'm only guessing but I'd bet it has something to do with the prevailing wind at the time they anchor so it's going to change from visit to visit.

We had fairly large swells at HMC last week. When we originally arrived we were bow to HMC. However, they announced that they would be changing the orientation of the ship towards HMC to try to provide easier transfers to the tenders. I can't remember which way they moved it, but I don't think there is any standard orientation towards HMC. Aside from which, there are many great locations on deck and in the Crow's Nest for views.

Every time we have been to HMC (over a dozen times) we have always been port and have always had a view of the beach. Best of all, IMO, "The Clipper", which is the supply boat that comes out to meet the ship and load on all the supplies/food etc they need for the day ashore always loads from port side. I love to stand on our veranda early in the morning, as soon as the ship arrives, and watch them load up The Clipper.

(Bear in mind that the ship [usually] is at anchor [but not always] and it will sway and the view will vary throughout the day.) Sometimes they have to work the joy stick all day long depending upon currents/tides/waves or whatever???

An anchored ship will definitely "weathervane" according to the winds. If the winds are variable throughout the day, the ship may pivot through an entire 360-degree arc. So there is no assurance which side of the ship will be facing the island.
