It's nice but it keeps giving me the wrong date and I have to change it several times. I'm getting the hang of it though. Just keep putting in the date you want after you check in.:)

I also had the glitch PokeyNose mentions. Now the website is "down" for bookings.

It's great HAL keeps trying to improve their website.....

I'm glad that they are working on it. The HAL website is one of the worst for navigation.....way too many clicks and redundant entries. Hopefully they will get it sorted out soon.

It's an improvement over the last one, but still one of the more obtuse cruise line sites out there.

It still has the stupid time-out when viewing the deck plans! It's not as if I am booking or purchasing something online. It doesn't time out while you are viewing FAQs for example, why deck plans??

While the new site design is lovely, inconsistencies remain, such as the dress code in the Packing for Alaska section:

"Dinner Dress
There are three smart casual and two formal evenings on every seven-day cruise. Please note, informal wear or formal wear is recommended at the Pinnacle Grill at all times.
Informal nights - sport jackets for men and dress slacks, casual dresses or skirts for women
Formal nights - jacket and tie required or tuxedo suggested for men, cocktail dress or gown for women"

Unless the code is different for Alaska, it would have been nice for someone to proofread before publishing the above. Is smart casual the same as informal? Are jackets required on informal nites? What is smart casual for Alaska?

Just my observation ... it reads like inconsistent gibberish.

I wonder if it still has the time-out while reviewing the excursions in the book excursions area. For some reason, it doesn't consider clicking expaning/skrinking the excursion lists, nor clicking on the excursion descriptions as activity on the site...
There are a lot of excursions in Alaska, and its gonna take me more than 10 minutes to look at my choices before making a decision, darnit!!

Maybe their designers could grow up and get rid of the sound of the water on the home page? Sounds like a noisy toilet....

If you scroll down on the homepage, there is an icon in the lower right corner to turn off the surf.

The old site was poor but at least you could sign in and generally find what you were
looking for.

This new side is not centered well. Difficult to sign in. I get overlapping info.
I am not impressed.

Sorry to report, but it has major rendering issues for Mac OS X (v10.5.7) customers running the Safari 4.0 public beta (build 5528.17)

Scott.

From what I have seen its mostly the appearance that has changed and not the info or navigation.

Scott.

That's one reason I'm not using the public beta! ;)

Off topic: NOTHING can be as bad as Costa's US website!!! Ouch!!

Back to topic...

I'm using IE 7 on XP Pro and getting a blank page when I click on the link DBA provided. Perhaps it is because I'm out of country??? (

Correct. However, the latest edition of Firefox for Mac works VERY well in rendering the HAL website. Still, with the ever-increasingly larger number of people using Safari, HAL needs to do something about the compatibility of their site.

The website doesn't work well in Firefox for Windows, and in Internet Explorer I can't see the Zuiderdam on the list of ships. Hopefully it will return to existence before our Panama cruise!:)

I'm getting a lot of overlapping information and am unable to use the search feature on Foxfire for windows.

LOL... Last night there were plenty of balcony and suites available for my next cruise. Now on the "NEW" web site nothing available:confused: Hope HAL knows it's going to be kind of hard to fill the ship that way:D

But at least they're consistently using imagery of the ship's exteriors pre-SOE...
...so unsuspecting passengers will never know how ugly Veendam is until they're at the pier!
