Sorry, but I'm not Radio. I'm more of a narrative person than a photographer but you're invited along for my reports if you desire. I live in Columbia, MD, just West of Baltimore and will be heading for the port in the morning. This will be my second and final annual May cruise on Enchantment. I think I may get one last cruise on her in January but not truly confirmed yet.

What pictures (along with Compasses and menus) will be posted on my companion blog:

http://baltoenchantment.wordpress.com

There are links on the blog for separate menu and compass pages in the green banner, should be above the place where the posts and the Enchantment picture meet.

This time tomorrow I'll be near Annapolis.

Ok guys. I am researching a river cruise for summer 2013. My wife and I and another couple (we are in our mid 60's) want to take a Russian River Cruise. I have read a lot about Avalon, Uniworld, Tauk, & Viking. All have their critics and supporters. So now I'm totally unsure about which way to go. I'm pretty sure that we will want a room with a balcony but other than that I am lost. We have never taken a cruise. We have traveled to Europe a number of times and always self booked everything including tour guides etc. We are quite "spoiled" as travelers and expect first class services and facilities. I have been appointed to make the reservations and I am scared stiff to make a mistake. Any advice and or suggestions would be very welcomed.

Thanks!

We are considering cruising on the 5 day Glory to St John and Halifax in late June or early July. I really want to see these places and am having a hard time deciding whether to cruise or drive there and take more time exploring. If you have cruised, did you wish you could see more than what would fit in during your one day at port? The drive would be long but we would take our time so be sure to relax a bit there. We haven't been on Carnival in many years and have never been on a "cooler" weather cruise, but I think we would enjoy it.

For those of you who have sailed in a boardwalk balcony....did you think it was worth the extra $$$??? I was going to book an interior, then I went to central park view but then read that some thought that was kinda boring (there will be two 22 year olds in this cabin). RCCL now showed me the boardwalk balcony.

Your thoughts??? High or low deck? Pictures of view of aqua theater from balcony?? Any other photos?? THANKS! This is going to be a graduation present for my son graduating from college and I really want to make the right choice !

How many 'formal' nights on this cruise?

Is there a self-serve laundry on the ship?

I read that there are usually 2 formal nights for a 7-day cruise but nothing specific to this itinerary where I've heard things could be more casual.
Thanks in advance for your response(s)!

Just returned from the 4/28/12 cruise out of San Francisco on the Star to Hawaii and back.

There were 8 seasoned cruisers in our group and we have never experienced such an elderly population on a cruise before. There were more walkers, scooters and wheelchairs than you can imagine.

More than a few of these people needed assistance and were traveling alone, counting on fellow passengers to help.

With the rocky, cold weather on the cruise, most passengers were forced indoors.

By the time we left, we felt as if we had been in a nursing home. Not being unkind, just surprised at the sheer total population on the ship.

I am always amazed to see a small pool packed with tons of people. Am I the only one who wouldn't put my toe in the pool?

According to the CDC, the average person has 0.14 grams of feces on their bottoms. The average Hershey Kiss is 4.5 grams. You get 32 people in a pool and you could probably make 1 Hershey pooh kiss. Not taking into consideration all the other sweat and stuff that makes up buttux butter and I am running for the hills.

I have seen way to many times people coming back from excursions and then taking a dip in the pool. Yes, the pool is treated and most likely will kill anything, but can't get my mind past the Hershey pooh kiss.

:confused::confused:
