Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. I only quoted you because I wanted to ask a question about your NCL trip with a toddler. I am wondering about the pack and play situation. Did it have a mattress in it? Some posts said they didn’t. Also, anything you can share about traveling on NCL with a toddler would be super helpful. We are having a hard time getting any information. I tried to message you but that feature wasn’t disabled. Thanks for your responses.
  2. Thanks for this response. We actually decided to leave the car seats behind because they are so much trouble to take along. We booked a travel service from the airport to cruise port that includes car seats and are limiting our excursions to places we can walk to in each port or we will just stay on the ship. Learned our lesson about traveling with toddlers, unless you do it a lot, the additional 'equipment' is too expensive. Best to take your own gear, your own car and do your own schedule (or should I say, your toddlers schedule, lol). This is a family members wedding cruise, so we are all in it for this go around but next time, definitely not cruising, lol. Maybe when they are older. : ) Thanks for your responses, they are appreciated.
  3. I have a bunch of questions and wondered if there is a specific board for baby/toddler questions? We are cruising on Norwegian Epic in February with a group that includes: 3: 14 - 17 month olds and a 3 year old. We are flying to Orlando to board in Port Canaveral. This is the first cruise with babies for all of us and the first cruise for many of us. These are our questions 1.) What size are the pack and plays? I read that they don't include a mattress and are smaller than a normal pack and play. Some people suggested making a foam bottom for it. Anyone have the measurements or another suggestion? 2.) Is there a sliding curtain to separate the room for the baby area and the bed for the adults? Is there a way to separate them if we bring something? On other boards, they suggest bringing magnetic clips and curtains, is that something that would work on the Epic? 3.) Did you bring your car seats for excursions? Where did you stow them in your room? 4.) If you bring a box of diapers, does it count as one of the (2) items you can check or would that be something they don't count? Also, someone said if you carry it on, you can bring as much as you can carry and put through the X-ray machine, is that accurate? 5.) Are the babies allowed to swim anywhere on the boat? Is there a splash area where they can go with their swim diapers on? I know they aren't allowed in the pools with swim diapers. 6.) Our cabins are all right together, are there any monitors that work so we could all gather in one room while the babies are sleeping in the other? 6.) I am sure there are other things that we don't know to ask. Any small details to make this easier would be appreciated. Also, if this is the wrong board, apologies. I couldn't find a baby board.
  4. Thanks for the review. We are doing a cruise on Epic with families that have babies under two. All in Club Balconies. How did you request the cribs? This is the exact thing I was looking for on this board. Also, you said that it didn’t have a mattress, is it a standard size pack and play? Just so we know what to bring. Thanks for your answer.
  5. Our cruise is in February 2024. Our group is 30 people at this time so all reservations have to be done through the group department. 😑
  6. Were you able to get the Group Credits through a PCC? That is the part we were hoping for. Also, having someone to do our show and dinner reservations. Thanks for your response.
  7. This is my original account, I was unable to get into it and created a new account. I thought it was too old to access again. But, with the wonderful help from the Cruise Critic help desk, I was able to get into it. 😁 Unfortunately, I lost access to the new account in the process (same email used) and couldn’t locate my first post. So, I posted again with the further developments. Still holding out hope to resolve this and thought another cruiser might have some experience or tip that would assist. 😊 Thanks for your responses.
  8. This is sort of a long story, but I will try and truncate it to get to the point. We are doing a group cruise instead of a family get together for the first time. Many of our family have cruised individually before but thought it would be fun to do altogether. I started with the special events department to see the possibilities of doing a private party onboard and was able to work out all the details. The Special Events people have been good to work with, no issues other than they don't work together with the Groups department (despite what the brochure says). The problem came with our "Group Concierge". This is supposed to be a perk of doing a group booking, according to their web site: Your dedicated Groups Concierge will ensure all of your pre-cruise arrangements including meals, parties and shore excursions are planned to a “T” whether it's for weddings, family reunions, birthday celebrations or private events. But our Group person has ignored my emails and phone messages, as well as the calls of others in our group. She has not correctly booked many of the rooms according to the requirements for our event and neglected to include any of the 'group perks' on most of the reservations. When we were able to talk with her, she would answer questions in such a long confusing way that we were never entirely sure that she knew what she was doing and the errors were not corrected. After many emails and calls, I finally called the group number again and asked for a supervisor or someone to assist me in getting our group booking assigned to another agent. I was given a case number that I now believe is a worthless way of placating me to get me off the phone. I have called in multiple times since then with a mixture of, "your case is being looked into and someone will call you" or transfers to a number that either rings, hangs up on you, or asks you to leave a message. I am completely frustrated by the lack of interest in resolving our issues and my family is about ready to pull out and look for another cruise line. I am wondering if anyone has ever had such a negative experience with Norwegian's Group Department. And if they have, how did you resolve it? Also, if anyone might have a contact person or number (other than the main group booking number) that we can contact to get these issues taken care of. I am honestly at the end of my wits about this. As the group leader, I have never experienced such horrible customer service when arranging parties, vacations and get togethers in the past. Thanks to anyone that can assist or offer advise.
