Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. We were on the Dec 10th sailing and the Rooftop was only open for dinner. AND in case of rain (we had a ressie on a night it rained) they canceled reservations and closed the restaurant. Honestly it wouldn’t have been any fun eating there in the rain as it’s a very open restaurant. Sadly the restaurant didn’t contact us to cancel so we ran in the rain to find out the restaurant was closed. The maitre was very nice and called down to the MDR restaurant of our choice and had a table ready for us…and moved our reservation to the Rooftop to the next night. I love the Rooftop. I think it’s some of the best food onboard….but I would love to see on future versions of this ship, to make it more weather friendly. You’ll love it and we highly recommend eating there.
  2. We sailed on the Dec 10th sailing with a full ship. We boarded at 11:30. Dropped our roller bag in the cabin, walked around the ship briefly, then headed for the OVC. The crowd was light and plenty of seating. We found on the Edge, Beyond and Ascent we were always able to find seating. Go towards the back, and if it’s a nice day the outside seating is awesome! …you’ll find all kinds of seating in this dining room especially toward the back AND another bar for drinks.
  3. We were on the Dec 10th sailing of the Ascent. I was very disappointed with the price increase for the wines and other drinks. We purchased a classic package as a gift for our friends we were traveling with as a treat for them. The wine options were so small it was ridiculous. My husband and I were on the premium package as I enjoy Conundrum wine. Last year on the Beyond this was always in the premium package. This year I was charged $2.40 up charge. I always enjoyed the sommelier being generous with keeping my glass full of wine while I was on the package. This also is no longer true as they’d have to ask each time to verify I’m willing to pay the upcharge. The reason I buy a package is for the convenience and as my husband is on medication and no longer can drink any alcohol, I’m definitely paying a premium. There really is no way I can justify the price with the amount of drinks I drink. Celebrity really should rethink these upcharges as I have decided to no longer purchase a package and just pay as I go. I’ll be spending much less so Celebrity will be missing out on their profit from me.
  4. Thanks to all who posted their experience on this cruise. We are sailing on the Summit Apr 2024 and appreciate all the insight!
