Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. There is a nice little beach very walkable from the Cabo tender port. We did it with our 4 & 6 year old grandsons. It's called "Playa Public Cabo San Lucas" on Google maps. Flat sandy beach with shallow, calm water. No facilities when we were there so bring your towels, water etc. I hear sometimes vendors do set up there but we didn't see any the day we were there. Have fun!
  2. We have done 11:30 AM flights from YVR multiple times with no issues at all, always with multiple ships disembarking. We do the self walk off with our luggage and either Uber or take the skytrain. We have never once felt like we cut it uncomfortably close.
  3. We were on the Navigator of the Seas with our 5 & 8 year old grandsons last weekend and were looking for a fun & educational way to spend the day. I found Hazel R. on the Tours By Locals site and after a few messages back and forth we decided to visit Pai Pai Ecotourism Park and the blow hole. Turns out Hazzel was ill that day so she had Ricardo do our tour. He was great! He picked us up right outside the port and told us a lot about Ensenada on our way to Pai Pai. Pai Pai is so much fun! Lots of unique animals for our grandsons to see, touch and even feed. We saw jaguars, tigers, cheetahs, llamas, baby goats and piglets, a hedgehog, raccoons, monkeys, an alligator, and many more. (it's obvious which ones you are allowed to touch or feed or hold and which ones are behind safety glass....) ; ) The park is spotless and felt very safe. Our guide Liz was fantastic. She is very knowledgable, spoke perfect English and did a great job of guiding us to the different areas and handing us off to the person at each attraction. After a couple hours at the park we continued on to the blow hole which was interesting. The tour also included a taco lunch near La Bufadora which was delicious and a quick city tour on the way back to the port. The vehicle was a spotless Ford Expedition so plenty of room. Hazzel and Ricardo both speak perfect english, and the price was fair. I highly recommend this tour as a great way to spend a day in Ensenada for any age.
  4. Hi dianef, He told us last month that he was leaving for vacation on Oct. 22nd so unless plans have changed he will not be with us next week. We've had Rich 3 times over the years and have enjoyed him plus we liked how he adds additional "pop up" shows in the foyer with some of the guest entertainers. Not all CD's do that.
  5. $900 minimum to move from a corner Sky Suite (previous S1) to an Aqua Sky Suite for 6 nights??You could get a spa pass for a lot less if you really wanted to spend that much time in the Persian Gardens. We’ve done move up bids from S2’s to larger suites several times but have never won. We chose to bid pretty high this time because our itinerary has a lot of lunches onboard and we like to eat in Luminae and because suites have been sold out for a long time so there would only be availability if someone cancels, plus the entire ship is sold out, the quietness of suite class sounded appealing. Maybe some day we will finally win a bid up. I’m always excited for people when I see they got the happy email. : )
  6. No stairs just escalators. I'm not sure how long elevator lines may be if you don't want to wrangle items on escalators. We have never found the procedure physically challenging of doing walk off, taking the SkyTrain and getting to our gate. For reference fitness-wise, we are in our early 60's, zero gym time ; ) but we do walk a lot. My husband just reminded me that when we disembarked in May we got to YVR so early we had time to interview to renew our TSA Global Entry. We had appointments at LAX months and months in the future so we were very pleased to get it done at the airport!
  7. Ship: Eclipse Length of Cruise: 7 days Cruise Sail Date: July 30, 2023 Date email offer received: don't recall, we did our bids 7/17 Captain’s Club Tier: Elite+ (< 100 to Zenith) Booked through: TA Current Cabin: Aqua 1 Bid? Yes/No: Yes If YES - Bidding Details: Royal Suite $2000 pp ($900 min), Celebrity Suite $1500 pp ($700 min), Aqua Sky Suite $1250 pp (forgot to note min), Sunset SS $1250 pp ($500 min), SS $1250 pp ($500 min) Notification Date: all rejected 7/28 We have yet to be successful on any bids we've tried since the program started, but we've always enjoyed our cruises!
  8. As long as you do not have any mobility issues a 12:00 flight is fine. We have taken an 11:15 am flight several times and will again in 2 weeks. We do the walk off with our luggage unless we are in a suite and know our luggage will be out there first and we can be escorted off the ship, and we take the SkyTrain. It's never even been close to being a problem getting there 90 minutes or more before flight time. A 5:00 pm flight will get you home to Florida so late and it's a long day already. Good Luck and enjoy your cruise!
  9. We disembarked the Reflection on June 10th. Our cabin was midship as well, 2161, so 1 deck up, same side and a just a few cabins forward. We've sailed with Celebrity 45 times and have NEVER felt a vibration like the first 2 nights out of Barcelona. (My husband joked it felt like a cheap motel bed you put quarters in... ummm, not sure how he knew that! 😆) It was truly difficult to sleep. Some other passengers we spoke with didn't feel it so maybe it is a midship, port side, speed issue? Once we had less distance to travel between ports therefore the speed was reduced, no problem, it felt like normal ship movement. If you are booked in that area I'd suggest you attempt to move cabins unless you are a very sound sleeper. MarkusToe, I hope you enjoy the rest of your cruise. We had a lovely time despite the issue.
  10. The socket behind the bed is European, the only US socket is by the desk. I don't use a CPAP but I like having my cell phone charging on the nightstand. I've never had a problem getting power there, the stateroom attendant usually brings and tapes down an extension cord or sometimes they use a converter in the socket behind the bed and my charging cord reaches.
  11. We’ve done it both ways but prefer parking and just rolling our luggage over.
  12. Have you considered taking another airline from San Diego or SNA? There are reasonable flights available tomorrow that would get you there in time for a good nights sleep at the Hilton. On your question though, I'm sorry but I don't know of a lounge at FLL that has a place to really freshen up besides the regular airline lounges.
  13. We’ve done celebrity, princess and royal from San Pedro in the past year and all have been really good boarding and disembarkation experiences.
  14. I would recommend renting a car. It’s a pretty drive up the coast on PCH and you could stop whenever you wanted to sightsee, get something to eat, etc. Laguna Beach is beautiful, Huntington Beach (surf city USA) is fun and my city (Newport Beach) is nice to visit as well.
  15. We booked a Royal Caribbean open passage on Celebrity. The future cruise consultant we were working with had to ask another one how to do it, but it got done and we booked a fun cruise with our grandsons when we got home. Then, on that RCI cruise we booked an open passage for Celebrity. : )
