Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. We booked through a TA, we got our confirmation at 8am on the morning of departure! Not good for the nerves!
  2. Our first cruise in 1991 was on QE2, it was a compettion prize and we were bussed to it from a hotel, its a long time ago now, and have no idea what rtime be boarded! After that we cruised on P&O, if my memory serves me right, you turned up at Mayflower at 1pm when check-in opened, then waited till around 3pm, when you boarded by coloured and number cards, given to you at check-in. Sp its a lot better these days!
  3. Always keep in mind that the arrival time may not be the disembarkation time! Over the years we have had several delays, Headwinds, passenger evacuations, a blocked port entrance, and a few years ago in Split a dispute who was going to ferry the passengers ashore!
  4. We booked a guarantee P2 on QV in November 2018, got really anxious as we had not been assigned a cabin 4 days before we sailed. We eventually were assigned a P2 at 8am on the morning of deparure, while we were in the pre-cruise hotel, it was not good for the nerves!
  5. I can assure you it is no fun being caught in a disturbance. Many years ago on a cruise we called at Brest, went ashore and walking through the centre noticed what looked like petrol bombs in the street (It was at thetime of student riots in France). We decided to return to the ship without incident, but some passengers were caught in the disturbance, and P&O had to move the pickup point and let the passeners know where to go.
  6. A few years ago we booked a P2 Autumn cruise for 10 days for the cost of around £6000, including $1640 OBC, and free drinks a gift from our TA. The nearer the cruise got the less the price became, ending up at £3250, which is a bit much to swallow. I argued it was a substantial change, and I wished to have my money refunded. The counter offered an upgrade to a Q3 and keeping the perks, could not refuse that! And had our best cruise ever of 42 (Our first was on QE2 in 1991, a 2 night cruise to nowhere). Sadly our cruising days are now over, but still haunt this board from time to time!
