Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. We have used the celebrity shuttle, no problems, no stress. When more than two, we used a taxi.
  2. Looking at a Norway cruise out of Southampton in June this year. hadn’t planned for one as we got off reflection in November and heading to canada this November. has anyone experience of a real balcony versus an ocean view on a- what is likely to be a cool weather cruise? is the new ship experience with giving up a real balcony? I know it is all personal, but would. Like a sounding board if possible. cheers.
  3. I can only speak for our experience. I am pretty sure each cruise and each ship have variances. maybe I shouldn’t post our experience in case I put anyone off.
  4. Just off reflection last month. My wife is gluten intolerant and we informed Celeb. experience wasn’t great to be honest; you will have to wing it in the OV. 3-4 bread products during the day and 3 or 4 desserts later in the day: nothing else labelled as GF. Main restaurant dining starts with bread at the table and is presented with a variety of popular breads but no GF. Wait time for service excluded the option to request GF bread. Desserts were very limited too. in specialty restaurant, when pointed out the GF requirement, she was offered ice cream- not even specialty ice cream. our experience wasn’t what we would expect these days.
  5. I have always taken the premium upgrade for the convenience and don’t consider the financials. as I get older, I don’t drink as much. I didn’t get near break even for it last month I’m sure, although I don’t keep tally. With the beer choice restricted at many bars, you have to trawl the bars to get some of the premium beers if you have a preference. Ended up with Bud and Michelob for convenience more often than not. In the restaurants, they did try to find whatever was asked for from the menu- be it Blue moon or Samual Adams, but it meant being half way through dinner a couple of times before settling for the same old. the lack of the premiums did bother me though and may consider sticking with the classic next time. probably the biggest benefit for the premium is you frequent the world class bar or martini bar regularly. I preferred the world class bar myself.
  6. Used the premium package last week, and was never offered a receipt, so couldn’t add a tip in that manner. Just slipped paper money over with the room cards and small bills were available. It may be with the classic package, there would be the odd time that an extra charge resulted in the signing of a receipt.
  7. Just off Reflection, and my own opinion is that the entertainment is down a notch since pre pandemic. three stage shows, fell asleep at the first one, despite the irritating high pitch of two female lead singers. Second show- broken strings was very good and worth the visit. Third show we didn’t bother with- the usual aerial acrobatic type thing, which we have seen a number of times and worn it out. canadian comedian J Blanchard? was very good but no idea if he will be back on- did a pig version which was okay, and an 18+ hitch really did tickle me- wasn’t too risqué either. a “rock singer” Rick Story, I think, music was decent but his posturing and link ups was boring and we left early. Again he may not be scheduled for later. The house band was pleasant enough but weren’t on all the journey, and the second band was pretty poor 4JB. The entertainment director was very good - Guiseppe, probably the best I have experienced. Sorry if this sounds like a negative Nancy post, but just my personal thoughts. Others thoroughly enjoyed the parts i critiqued perhaps. I do normally like the entertainment on Celebrity and part of the reason we choose them. .
  8. Thanks all. In case any of this is any use in future. first time using Uber as we don’t have in in our neck of Scotland. my daughter advised on an XL as it guaranteed room for the luggage. So, we used Uber from Miami airport to FLL, for 80$ on a Friday afternoon. used them again from riverside hotel in FLL to the port and it was $44 due to Sunday morning cruise surge I assume. Celebrity transfer from the port to Mia airport was only $30 each, so went with that transfer.
  9. Hi, also posted this on the Florida board but this board is way busier. Does anyone have experience of using Uber on debarkation? if so, is there a designated area for pick up? specifically terminal 29, I suspect. is it straight forward? travelling on to Miami airport.
  10. Hi, anyone have experience of using Uber on debarkation? if so, is there a designated area for pick up? is it straight forward? travelling on to Miami airport. thanks.
  11. Thanks to all for taking the time to reply. I emailed celebrity at the same time as posting and they sent them, apparently sent in October- maybe I mislaid the email. I had done the press pass and was aware of the pier bag tag option, I just wondered if there was an underlying scarier issue at play, but apparently not. all relaxed now.
  12. Hello, I am 17 days away from boarding Reflection. I don’t have / can’t find my e-docs or luggage tags. Should I be concerned, Celebrity website mentions 3-4 weeks out for availability.
  13. Thanks for the reassurance.
  14. Hi there, I am considering Uber to travel from Miami airport down to Port Everglades. Have any UK travellers used the UK app and credit card in the USA at all?
  15. I was concerned that the tri rail would not have storage areas for the cases. if it is suitable for riding with the fairly big cases nearby, then you are welcome to a pint or two of McEwans export,
