Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. I was all set to chime in and add that we have heard this on other ships (reflection) in rough weather, ALL ships flex and creak sometimes… THEN, i watched the video in post #47. You can see the seas are very calm, no whitecaps, almost no swells. The creaking and banging is LOUD, incessant, and intolerable. How interesting that some cabins do and some don’t. Cruisecritic is the perfect venue to list noisy cabins to avoid! As far as demanding to be relocated, that isn’t possible if all cabins are full.
  2. 3 large ships in port, this is peak time, PLENTY of space. You need not fear being crowded food is excellent, drinks are watery but that’s everywhere
  3. Live at paradise beach. Beautiful day, lots of water toys, a thousand chairs available on the beach, and lots by the pool, but its still early in the day.
  4. There is an airplane (i think) in the harbor if you look for it!
  5. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2873127-honolulu-transportation-options/#comment-64551841 Look in this same category, just browse the topics.you don’t even have to google! Lots and lots of advice and help here
  6. If nothing else, you motivated me to check our passport expiration dates. I renewed mine recently (USA) and it took far longer than i expected. Wife has 21 months on hers. These are difficult times for many things, I don’t have an opinion on what celebrity should or should not do, both follow the rules, or make an exception for you have good arguments. This is an excellent advertisement for trip insurance though! Best wishes and good luck going forward.
  7. “For tea, ask your Retreat Host to bring an electric key kettle and tea bags, and you can make your own tea whenever you feel like it.” That doesn’t sound like modern luxury to me….
  8. Our philosophy on tipping is this: standard tips cover standard service, Extra service equals extra tips. an example of extra service is someone bringing breakfast to your cabin. A pot of coffee? Maybe $2 An entire breakfast for 2? probably $5 I’d want five to carry that tray up 7 decks and to the far end of the ship….
  9. I would choose reflection. I do not like apex, so have not sailed it, nor plans to. our all time favorite ship is silhouette, then reflection. (we were married aboard reflection) but that isn’t a a factor here. just not a fan of edge/apex and all the “eden sillyness” etc. The bow just looks backwards to me and don’t get me started on that orange monstrosity hanging off one side….. anyway REFLECTION.
  10. Thanks! I’ve learned more from the experts here than i ever would anywhere else! appreciate the insights. It looks like it comes down to how much more $$$ it costs Wifey will likely want to splurge, in the cheap one lol
  11. We are experienced cruisers, mostly celebrity but royal, disney, and carnival too. new to princess! We love the suite experience on celebrity, MOSTLY due to a dedicated restaurant. I am sure a princess suite is larger than a standard balcony cabin, but what else? What do we get in a suite experience? Likely on crown (we know about the propulsion problems) Thanks in advance
  12. I think wifey saw a suite guarantee for the same(almost) as a balcony. it would likely be a junior suite, unless we are very lucky. just wondering what a suite would get that’s better than a balcony
  13. Its karma, I’d guess… get well soon
  14. So, we cruise more on celebrity than royal, and LOVE that a suite comes with a dedicated restaurant! But on royal there is no such perk as far as i can tell. We are looking at mariner of the seas in August and suite prices are tempting, but what do we get over a standard balcony anyway? we are diamond (thanks to being elite on celebrity) if that matters. So, why a suite? Probably get a slightly bigger cabin I’d guess, but anything besides priority this or that? thanks for any shared wisdom
