Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. It’s not a problem for us though it could be for many. I was making the point that they seem to have very bizarre systems compared to other cruise companies and very few which would entice me want to go with P and O again.
  2. We are one of 3 linked cabins on K407 all booked on one transaction and all in the same cabin grade. Our boarding is 12:15, the 2nd is 13:15 and the 3rd is 13:45. It makes no sense, especially as ours and the 2nd booking are on the same deck. P & O has some very weird policies
  3. On the UK website (not the app) if you click on 'Plan my cruise' then click on your initials logo (top right) then select 'Order History', each component will probably be listed with a separate order no. ie. the classic package and wifi are shown separately .
  4. On the UK website (not the app) if you click on 'Plan my cruise' then click on your initials logo (top right) then select 'Order History', each component will probably be listed with a separate order no. ie. the classic package and wifi are shown separately . I have just bought the classic to premium upgrade as it was shwoing a 53% discount and that is also listed.
  5. Just went into app for our Feb cruise and found that the upgrade from classic package (which we had) to premium was now down to £6.97 pppd rather than £18.76 it was last week. Have just booked it and told our cruise friend who have done it as well. A great bargain but not sure which cruises it relates to or for how long
  6. When I tried to book in for the flight yesterday it seemed to work except it said it couldn’t send an email as there was something wrong with one of the passenger details. The resend button also didn’t work. I got through to an online chat very quickly and a helpful lady called Julie said we were definitely checked in but couldn’t give me seat no’s which I thought was odd, but she’d try later and get back to me and in fairness she did email me later in the day with seat details, although I’ve still not had a actual system confirmation. ( I think their systems are pretty c**p by todays standards) As long as you have a tick on the page which says you are checked in (see below) you can just turn up at the airport, otherwise use online chat, I thought it was pretty effective.
  7. That’s a real bummer, I feel for you. We leave on 3rd Sep and have just checked on the port website to make sure ours hasn’t changed, but thankfully we are still showing as going into Manhattan. I’d be really annoyed if it changed. If anyone need to check, this the site I looked at https://www.panynj.gov/port/en/our-port/cruise-terminals.html
  8. We were on a canaries cruise in February but all they were offering was free choice of cabin then I think about £30 OBC if you booked balcony cabin, so not a massive incentive but better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.
  9. I have a packaged insurance with First Direct which includes the normal mobile phone and car breakdown. The confirmation of insurance letter they issue contains this wording. I hope this may help someone . The policy is through Aviva.
  10. Just back from our 1st Tui cruise, which was around the Canary Islands. Overall we were very pleased with most aspects of the cruise and Tui organisation with the exception of the Kora La restaurant. This was an extremely poor meal. The staff were attentive and knowledgeable but it was very rushed. Our starters arrived before we had finished our Amuse bouche and the main meals were served almost immediate after the starters. It felt like we were being rushed out, it certainly wasn’t going to be a nice relaxed evening as it should have been. The tempura starters were overcooked with a very thick coating and the crispy duck and watermelon also being well over cooked . This was not crispy duck as we know it but dry and hard and tasted like bits of string. All 4 curries, (all slightly different) were like spiced gravy. There was no creaminess, no depth of flavour and were just like having the cheapest own brand no frills curry from a cheap supermarket. The so called naan breads were not naan bread but stodgy pitta breads. They were not chargrilled or even warm, just thick white stodge. We complained at the time and I followed this up with a very good chat with one of the head chefs and overall restaurant manager a couple of days later who appeared to take this all very seriously and were very apologetic. Even if this meal had been £10 a head we would have been disappointed, but to pay £27 a head for it was an insult. I certainly would not try this particular venue again
  11. We were on Connie in late July and whilst WhatsApp messages would come through, any attached pictures woUld not download
  12. I think it only lets you do this if you originally signed up for select dining. We had booked for20:30 dining so this facility wasn’t available and the staff at the select dining entrance will NOT allow you to book
  13. We Disembarked Connie on 30 July, and the 5th floor set dining we wanted was basically not available and we were moved onto select dining, probably as there were less than 1500 passengers instead of the capacity 2100. It worked well most nights, there was only 1 night where we had to wait and get a pager. If you want to eat after 8 that’s when it seems to slow down, before that it worked OK
  14. Just back off Connie. Basic wifi was good enough for what I needed. I could still access one drive and although pics won’t download on WhatsApp I just asked my daughter to send pics on my gmail account which worked albeit slowly. I certainly wouldn’t pay the exorbitant daily price to upgrade, but then I’m tight.
