Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. We only travelled to the UK so can't help on the additional paperwork to Europe but don't worry you have plenty of time to sort out the logistics. A couple on our July crossing travel down to Italy every year with their elderly lab. They always rent a one way vehicle when they reach France (not sure of their mode of travel to France) preferring to have a left hand drive vehicle. Alternatively, you can take Brittany Ferries to Spain or several different ports in France. Brittany Ferries have dog friendly cabins or they can stay in the vehicle or in kennels. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CF0ekQFhpGY The admin can seem a little daunting at first but it is not as complicated as I initially thought. You'll be fine.
  2. Congratulations! Would you mind sharing where you were on the waitlist for the July cruise? Just asking for some friends of ours.
  3. Sad to hear this. 😞 With only one eastbound crossing in peak season, 2025 availability seems even more limited. Lots of people do cancel though and there were more than several passengers on our 2023 sailings that booked late; us included for our westbound sailing and this was for July and early September. Each of the May thru July sailings have waitlists for lower kennels; with one of the dates having over 40 people on the waitlist. Crazy right!! I'm sure you are aware of your position on the waitlist and if I were to give advice now I would say stay hopeful but have your back up plan in place. Also, if you are able to, I would book one of the dates that have confirmed spaces available knowing that you can release this at any stage prior to full payment. Not ideal I know, but it is something I regret not doing for 2024. Even though the kennels were doubled in size in the last refit the demand shows there is a need for this mode of travel for our beloved pets.
  4. Did you manage to secure kennel space for your dog? I hope that you did.🐕
  5. We booked an Eastbound and Westbound Transatlantic with a request for a lower kennel space for our Goldendoodle. We find out in a few days if we have a confirmed kennel space but our agent sounded very positive.
  6. If you have a dog under 25lbs you stand a very good chance of getting an upper kennel. Larger dogs that require 2 lower kennel spaces are harder to get. But you are booking early so fingers crossed.
  7. If you have sailed with Cunard before, bookings open Oct 4th. I have just sailed east and westbound with my dog and we all had a wonderful time . This morning I spoke with a consultant at Cunard and gave her all my booking requirements for our voyage in 2025 - measurements of our dog (height, weight, length and age) cabin type. She stated that requests for kennel spaces would be sent across to the kennel department as soon as bookings were open on the 4th. Each request would be time stamped and they would be treated in strict order of receipt. If you call Cunard with your requirements I'm sure they will advise you of the process. Good luck.
  8. Did you have a response from onboard services regarding the weekly spa pass cost?
  9. This was my first sailing since 2019. In truth and this is my personal opinion I found the food to be average. I love the Golden Lion pub but it is always challenging to find a table on eastbound sailings with the clock change at Noon and the menu seems to have fewer items than in past years. The best meal I had was an Indian curry in the Kings Court; better than in Coriander. The scones in the Kings Court were excellent, lovely and warm. On one of the Gala evenings Surf & Turf was offered; I had no issue swapping out the Surf for an additional Turf. I presumed I would have to wait some time to have this prepared but the meal arrived lovely and hot and very quickly. I also enjoyed some of the food offerings in the Carinthia lounge and when I return on the westbound sailing later this year I will be sure to have more lunches there. I did receive an invitation to an officers party but not sure if it was the senior officers party because I no longer attend these.
  10. I have always found onboard services to be extremely responsive to any questions. I think they answered within 2/3 days, sometimes even faster!
  11. cunardonboardservices@cunard.com Perhaps you could let us know the outcome? For transparency purposes, I believe the Spa should have a list of charges regarding the Aqua Therapy pass that you can actually see.
  12. I sailed on the 21st July sailing NYC - SOU. Prior to sailing I emailed onboard services and was quoted $99 for the 7 night sailing, but this could only be reserved whilst onboard. On embarkation day the spa manager stated that the rate was $179 for the week. I was asked to produce the email and the $99 was honored somewhat reluctantly. I agree there is some confusion as to what is being quoted by the Aqua Therapy Center.
  13. As we approach the end of our voyage on the QM2 after 4 years of anticipation we can report that we had a wonderful time on board with our puppy. The kennel masters, John and Oliver are amazing. But, we are astonished at the cell phone use in the Britannia dining room at dinner time. We had a particularly loud couple in their 50's ( we think) each with their own phone, taking incoming calls and talking loudly at the table next to ours. And those 2 tops are very close to each other as most of you will know. We requested that they take their incoming calls outside but with no success. So, Cunard if you are reading this please display a sign (in multiple languages) as you enter the restaurant that cell phone calls are NOT permitted. The dining management should have back up from head office to enforce this as best as they can.
