  1. I would wait until on board before deciding to cancel the NCL transfer to airport, in case the Port Valet doesn’t apply to NCL flights. If Port Valet will work in your favour, great! Otherwise….
  2. Yes, but it depends on which airline the OP is flying on. Port Valet - Enjoy Seattle Luggage Free! | Port of Seattle (portseattle.org)
  3. If it were us, we'd take the NCL transfer (that we'd have paid for) to the SEA airport and go to Baggage Storage to deposit all bags for several hours, and go on LightRail into Seattle and enjoy the day there. Then head back to SEA, pick up luggage and check in for the flight. Seattle-Tacoma International Airport - Smartecarte Sea-Tac Airport | Sound Transit A few years ago we stayed in a hotel near the SEA airport for a week and twice we travelled on Light Rail into Seattle (first was to Pike's Market and surroundings, and second was to Westlake for the Space Needle and Chihuly) - both times easy peasy and very good. P.S. Welcome to Cruise Critic!
  4. That 5 O’clock place (the inside) is directly below the expensive deck 8 Club Balcony cabins with very large balconies … so noise was a real factor that the M9 occupants complained bitterly …. so whatever venues going on in that place had to be during the day and finish early. I think they managed to *really* soundproof the floor between the Pour House on deck 7 and the M9 cabins on deck 8 during Escape’s first dry dock when the 5 O’Clock was converted to the Pour House. Escape was the first BA+ ship and the designers had no idea.
  5. But the Gem is visiting different ports on each leg. Also we’re keen on revisiting some of the ports that we went to 2 decades ago! There are still a few that are new to us.
  6. That’s why we’re going on back to back Gem in Dec - we get to thru the Panama Canal twice!
  7. You'll do great with the Jade especially it's a Panama Canal .... you get to go thru the old locks, not the new ones. Jade is a mid-sized ship and due to the length of cruise there probably won't be a lot of lids on board. You mentioned that Moderno is out but why don't you go to the Sugarcane bar for a mojito one time and pop into the restaurant to take a look at the salad bar there. It's quite good! You can use a dining coupon for sushi - 4 items off the menu. We're on the Gem (sister ship to the Jade) for the two back to back Panama Canal cruises in December this year. First one is Miami to Panama City (Pacific side) via the ABC islands, and the second is from Panama City back to Miami via western Caribbean. We're looking forward to that.
  8. No suit or tux!! Le Bistro requires men to wear long pants and collared shirt (short or long sleeved). If you are on the Encore, Le Bistro is high up on deck 17 port side next to the aft elevators - fantastic sea views. lovely place to dine in. On Encore it's not La Cucina but Onda. Our fave (along with Le Bistro). If you're on a long cruise with multiple dining coupons, I bet you'll visit each of Le Bistro and Onda TWICE - just to have different entrees if you are undecided the first time, ha ha. Another restaurant to try is Los Lobos .... 5:30 reservations are quite easy, so you'll manage! ENJOY!
  9. Post #4 on this thread has new itinerary….
  10. Remember, both rooms may not be allocated to the same muster station, so each room aka one adult & one child need to go to one and the other room to the other muster station.
  11. @David Res Welcome to CC! Yes, it is strongly recommended to obtain the visa even though you'll be arriving in Brazil on the 8th April. I would not want to be denied boarding the Star (by the way it's Norwegian STAR, not Sky). You require an eVisa and you can apply online: [Official] Brazil Evisa | Tourist eVisa (vfsevisa.com) ENJOY! P.S. I agree with @complawyer
  12. She docked 13:00 UTC on Monday Feb 26, which is 5pm local time.
  13. I can see the ships docked at the Royal Naval Dockyard from our place across the Great Sound. NCL usually dock their ships at Heritage Wharf. On some occasions a NCL ship would be docked at Kings Wharf. And it's crapshoot as to which side the ships (not just NCL ships, but all ships) dock - port side or starboard side - it's up to the captain or weather or lifeboat maintanence. Bermuda is a favourite port for the crew if their ship is docked for overnight or more. 2023 it was about 50:50 for the Joy and also the Pearl, the two NCL weekly callers.
  14. OP cancelled their cruise and some land-based NCL personnel told them they'd have their CNs back to their NCL account, so they sent off insurance claim for the cruise value less the value of the CNs. Turns out the NCL personnel wasn't correct, so the OP lost the value of the CNs. Bottom line, the CNs become non-returnable after the final payment due date. OP, I'm sorry to hear about your woes, hopefully you'll be able to get the CNs back somehow. Others: when sending off insurance claim, claim for full value, and remember the CNs will not be returned.
  15. When we had to cancel our July 2019 cruise a week before the sailing date due to severe medical complications we just gave the amount we wanted to claim .... after all the port fees, taxes, excursions, DSCs, gratuities were refunded to us. The amount consisted of the cruise fares less the insurance. We had paid the cruise using two CNs valued $250 each (but had paid $250 for both), and when we got the claim back the $500 was included, not $250. Bottom line, when you cancel the cruise you claim the full value of the cruise fare, not the value less the CNs. You get your CNs back if you cancel the cruise before the final payment due date, but not after the due date where you lose the deposit that was paid by the CNs.
