  1. We don't know your interests so hard to make any recommendations. But having been to 9 of the ports, I would favor Ireland and Iceland.
  2. You will be off by 9:30. Remember, the ship needs to get ready for the next load of pax. You are correct, no Immigration ( the more important and complicated issue) or Customs issues. Shouldn't be any problems being at your hotel before noon.
  3. Welcome to Cruise Critic! Ask this question over on the portion of Cruise Critic devoted to Princess, located here: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/119-princess-cruises/ That is where all the Princess expertise lives.
  4. There won't be any issue getting off the ship. Most, if not all, the vendors frequently mentioned here will come to the port.
  5. Have you looked around the board? There are many threads here recommending tour companies. Rome in Limo is one we have used about 8 times...high quality operation, very customer oriented. Huge thread down the board filled with recommendations. The bigger issue might be you are a little late getting into the booking process.
  6. That was where we docked, its right in town. And the sail in is beautiful. We were on Eurodam, and we did the sail in from about 7 to docking at 10am. Really pretty.
  7. Maybe some of the members of Cruise Critic who are/were ship's officers can chime in on this. I have trouble believing the weight of a passenger affects the stability that much, unless some extreme situation arises. @Heidi13?
  8. Its not a fee, its a fine. The PVSA requires a stop in a foreign port for a roundtrip, a stop in a distant foreign port for a one way cruise from one US port to another US port. If those don't happen, it is a fine, per passenger. I have heard it is $750 each, but not sure if that is correct. The NCL ship doing Hawaii is a US flagged ship, with US citizen employees and has to pay US wages. According to the law, that means the foreign port requirements don't apply.
  9. Welcome to Cruise Critic! There are many discussions just like this on the Alaska board, here: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/33-alaska/ Glacier Bay is very important to most. By the way, it is Sapphire Princess, not the other way around.
  10. Never heard of the ship's occupancy affecting buoyancy, at least not enough to warrant draining pools. Highly doubt it. @sharon_pei, its Sapphire Princess. We have taken, and used swim suits every one of our 27 cruises, including 4 in Alaska. In fact, on Labor Day a number of years ago, we were sitting in the stern hot tubs on a Princess ship in a sleet storm in the Gulf of Alaska.
  11. The MSC board: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/49-msc-cruises/ The Italy board: https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/464-italy-ports/
  12. No, it was an Immigration or Security line, not Customs.
  13. But, in that case, the Gala night menus will probably repeat.
  14. HAL has 4 Gala night menus, so whether or not they repeat depends on the number of Gala nights.
