Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. We don't know a lot about the area but we have some friends that were born and raised there and we went over things with them and this is what we picked. Here is what we booked. Halifax Halifax and Peggy's Cove Tour. Sydney Bras D'or lakes Grand Tour. Saint John Hopewell Rocks Tidal Discovery All are tours are booked with the cruise line for this one. I just didn't feel there was enough information out there for me to feel comfortable booking with outside people on this cruise. I hope to se some of you on these tours?
  2. We have never sailed out of New York only came in with the Vista on the transatlantic and it was really early in the morning when we sailed past lady liberty so I too am looking forward to seeing her in the daylight from the height of the ship. We did stay in NY for a few days after that cruise and did a harbor tour to be able to go out and see her. She is quite a sight to behold.
  3. Welcome aboard, we will also be on the Venezia in September going to Canada.
  4. I think any cruise is as fun as you want to make it. I don't know you will have more fun on Carnival it's more about you. If you are a fun person and like to get out and meet people and participate any cruise will be fun. If you enjoy being quiet and sitting by yourself and reading any cruise will be for you. I don't think it's really the cruise line at all it the passengers. For me I am very low key and have worked hard all my life to get where I am. I have been on 30 Carnival cruises and have loved every one of them. I won't say we have never had any issues come up but it's all how you handle the issues and take things that make the cruise. We have friends that are mostly RC fans, so we do not cruise too often together. We have tried several times but I am too cheap to pay an extra $800 - $1600 dollars to go to the same places. I do think RC has bigger ships (I'm not a fan of big ships) and they offer things I would not do like rock climbing or ice skating, so those things don't mean anything to me. I will say Carnival has great food for me and I'm sure the other cruise lines do as well but for me if it's not broke don't fix it. When I put my first group cruise together in 2006 one of the people going mentioned Carnival is ok but they do not offer white glove service this is one of the main reasons I love Carnival. The staff is very friendly and polite. We like to talk to them and get to know them a little bit and hear their story. I have no idea if it is the same on other cruise lines or not. So enjoy your cruise and make it one of your favorite vacations you have ever been on.
  5. This is always a discussion with people. I agree with others instead of trying to get them on the same time as you get on you are more than welcome to wait and join them in their line. We have this issue when we cruise with most of our friends as we are diamond and they are B/R/G we just wait and go with them because we usually want a picture taken together. We have arrived at our scheduled time and split up and our friends get on before we do because there are so many P/D members now.
  6. My wife and I are both Diamond and we both get an invitation to the Diamond party. Sometimes it states you and a guest are invited and sometimes it doesn't. If it does and we are cruising with friends we will ask them to come along. That may be why you see some people there that are not Diamond. It also varies from cruise to cruise if they have a lunch or a gathering. I'm not sure if this is based on the quantity of eligible people or the schedule of the captain and staff. We do not attend the P/D (past sailings) parties because there are too many people in there.
  7. Like most we missed a lot of cruising due to COVID we cruised in Oct of 2019 and then didn't go again till 12/2022 and some things did change. I don't mind the changes they are what they are and I don't mind having to get the perks a different way than before but it sure would have been nice to have something in my cabin when I boarded to tell me what I get and how to get it.
  8. Yea but you might have been able to squeeze a nice OBC out of them if that were the case. It was a rough couple years for every one there but I am hoping we are all past that and getting back to lots of fun and travel.
  9. I hate when that happens but you can never have enough cruises on the books. It's also nice to have things to look forward to.
  10. This is a fun topic and I really enjoyed reading all the fun stats. Her are a few of mine that might be unique. First cruise 10 year anniversary 1999. Total cruises so far 30 all with Carnival (262 sea days). 15 different ships. Made Diamond on our 22nd cruise before our milestone cruise at 25. Shortest cruise 5 days (had to go to Cuba) Longest cruise 23 days (Long Beach to Sydney Australia) Also my favorite cruise. Last cruise was our smallest Sign and Sail bill $3.76 after tips and everything (thanks COVID OBC) I also don't drink. We did eat at the steak house and usually do at least once. We have done a balcony on 28 of those 30 cruises (first one was ocean view also did a 10 day Med. with 9 stops couldn't see getting a balcony no time to be on it) On the Australia cruise coming home we saw the same sunrise twice on the same day first in Brisbane and then again in LA. I find the time thing so fascinating with travel like that.
  11. Hello fellow cruisers, my wife and I will also be sailing on this cruise. We moved to FL a little over three years ago so we booked a cruise out of New York just so we would have to fly 🤪. Like most we have lacked in the cruise department the last few years we took our 30th Carnival cruise Dec of 2022 and that was our first since Oct of 2019. We really missed it and now have three on the books including this one. It will feel good to get back at it. John
  12. Hello Betty, my wife and I will be joining you on this cruise. We just booked yesterday and are very much looking forward to it. John
