Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Never ceases to amaze how insulting people can be on these boards.
  2. I know this is random but just wondering if anyone else feels this way. My parents gave me a lovely name, but I have always gone by my middle name, my entire 63 years I have been here. I traveled under that name, work and still do work, filed my taxes - still do, got a mortgage, car loans, insurance with only my middle and last name. Then 911 happened and everyone must use your legal name, or as they say your first name. When you board the cruise ship everyone is so friendly and addresses you with the name on the reservation. It can be quite funny sometimes, since my first name is "Merre" it is pronounced like Merry, it was a family name and it was my beautiful grandmother's name. But the nice room stewards and waiters usually say, "Hello Ms Merrrrr". so not their fault for the pronunciation. I understand that I can legally change my name and I know some people have done that, but it is expensive. I just wish they had a place one the reservation for preferred "Nickname" or something. I feel like I lost a little bit of the freedom we are supposed to have in America.
  3. Does anyone know if the balcony partions open on the Connie? I know it is an older smaller ship. We are in side by side Aqua balcony on deck 9. Not a deal breaker but would be nice.
  4. You are not joking, I was hoping the Havana Cabana suite price would drop and I would upgrade, does not look like that is likely. 🙂
  5. Not sure the class on the Mardi Gras, hopefully it will have that non-smoking section. Thanks for your input.
  6. Booked later this year on Mardi Gras, just wondering if they still allow smoking in the Casino? I am not a smoker and really hate the smell on my clothes. I am also not a big gambler, but I do like to donate a few bucks each cruise. LOL. Last year on RCCL it was horrible, smokers were using the casino as a smoking area. You could not get away from it. Needless to say I did not donate much on that cruise. That is one thing that I really like about Celebrity, they really control where the smokers can hang out and smoke. It is not the casino. Now smokers don't flame me, I know you want to enjoy your cruise too, but it is annoying to smell it and it give me a headache sometimes.
  7. I kind of thought that. What schools have a fall break in October? We are from Florida and usually when we sail in October there are no children.....Well we booked a Havana Cabana so no one under 18 allowed. LOL
  8. We have a booking on this sailing, booked about a month ago, I told some friends they should join us but when she went to look you cannot find this sailing to book on any websites including Carnival. It seemed like there were plenty of cabins left a few weeks ago. Does this mean it is full or should I be worried that the cruise is being cancelled? Just find this really odd, usually this far out there would be a couple of cabins available. She plans on calling Carnival. Has this ever happened before?
  9. App says it is on deck 5 looks like it is across from Cafe Promenade.
  10. We purchased this for the Mariner for upcoming sailing. It does not mention specifically mention Playmakers, but it does say that Ala carte venues would receive a credit. Is Playmakers specifically ala carte? And what the heck is Dadong? I don't see any reference to it on the app. What's Included Unlimited visits to speciality dining restaurants every night of your sailing and lunch on sea days. For restaurants with a la carte pricing, you'll receive a $20 food credit Teppanyaki/Izumi Hibachi is included, with a $10 surcharge, Chef's Table is included, with a $49.99 surcharge, and Dadong is included, with a $35 surcharge. These will be charged once onboard. Important details and advisements A courtesy reservation will be made for Day 1 or 2 of your sailing. All additional reservations or changes to your courtesy reservation must be made once onboard at any specialty restaurant. Not valid for premium experiences including: Wine Pairing Dinners, Taste of Royal, and Mystery Dinner Theater Child pricing applies to children between the ages of 6-12. Children ages 0-5 are complimentary. Children must order from the kids menu.
  11. I just received an email that masks were optional in the terminal now....seems a little premature with all the reported cases on cruise ships. I am getting my booster this week and my whole family if fully vaccinated, I have "knock on wood" avoided the dreaded virus all this time, I really hope I don't catch on the cruise. Sailing on the Equinox May 29th. That aside, we have not cruised since before Covid. (We were sailing March of 2020 and everything cancelled the day before we left). Do they give you a specific time for boarding or can you just show up like we used to around 1 pm? We are Conceirge class so we are supposed to have priorty boarding but not sure what that means anymore. Any input is appreciated
