Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Thanks so much, everyone! I appreciate your help.
  2. It has been awhile since I have traveled on Princess, and it looks as though they have a new system for dining which involves reservations. We will be traveling with friends who are on separate tickets and would like to dine with them. Is it possible to set that up with the reservations system? Anything special we might need to do for that? I tried to search on this site but wasn't able to find this information.
  3. I am surprised by the responses here. I went on Meraviglia in March and thought the food quality was poor. Were there items that were okay to eat? Yes. Did I starve on the ship? No. I have been on a lot of cruises over the last 40 years or so, and in general have found food quality on cruise ships to be on the decline over the years, even before the pandemic. It is tough to compare Meraviglia this past March to what they might be serving on RCL currently, although I found RCL food quality to really decline between 2010-2017. As far as Meraviglia, the dinners in the MDR weren't of terrible quality, but there were more limited options compared to other ships I have been on, even on small things like ice cream selection. The buffet at lunch did have some things like salad bar and pizza that I though were good, but there were fewer options than previous cruises, and some of the options were odd. For example in the "Mexican" section they offered chips and cheese sauce. The chips were made out of fried wonton skins, and the cheese sauce was room temperature and did not seem to include any cheese (more like colored mayonnaise?). For the waffles in the morning there was a berry topping, but it seemed to be mostly made out of currants. Overall, there was plenty of quantity, but not a lot that was super appealing. That said, I do enjoy their pizza. We did not stay in the Yacht Club, so can't speak to food quality there. We opted to dine in the specialty restaurants for 4 nights and we found quality of food to be significantly better there. This said, things might be different now on Meraviglia - the lead chef may have been switched out, and our cruise had few passengers (and there were still a lot of Covid-related supply issues at that time), so things might have improved. We were definitely not impressed by the food on Meraviglia. You won't starve, but maybe not the best dining experience.
  4. Thank you so much - this is exactly what I was hoping to find out!
  5. Thank you so much. We are actually looking at a December, 2022 sailing, but definitely good to consider that categories are shifting for future sailings - I'm guessing after the refurbishment?
  6. Thank you so much. On the plan, it appears that the aft veranda concierge level staterooms are shorter, but you are saying they are the exact same size as the other staterooms? It also appears, for example, that room 2170 is larger than 2172, and 2166 appears larger than 2164 on the plan. However, this is just an inconsistency in the plan and they are all in fact the exact same size? I was just wondering if there were any that were any staterooms that are a little larger and/or had larger balconies; alternatively if there are any to avoid because they are smaller than normal.
  7. Hi experienced Celebrity cruisers, We are looking at booking Concierge Class on Reflection, but in trying to choose a stateroom, it appears that the stateroom sizes seem to really vary across deck and location. I can't tell how accurate the plans are as far as scale, though. I did a search of the forum and looked at the stateroom report form, but it is still hard to tell which rooms are larger or have larger balconies. I saw that on another Celebrity ship the angled staterooms have larger balconies - is that true on Reflection? It also appears that some of the staterooms are shorter in length, but not sure if that is correct or if it is simply that plan drawings are not to scale. Any insight or advice regarding most desirable Concierge staterooms would be appreciated. We would be open to an aft balcony, but the priority is for a larger stateroom and/or balcony. Thanks so much.
