Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. No worries. We, too, must do a non-proctored test. Are you on the 10/5 sailing of Apex? We are on that sailing. It's much easier to do a self-test than a proctored one. Bon Voyage!
  2. On Celebrity's website today, updated Vaccination Guidelines for Cruises visiting Greece, as of September 24th. No More Proctored Covid Testing Required!!!! https://www.celebritycruises.com/healthy-at-sea/italy-travel-requirements
  3. Tried to do an OnPoint testing appointment, but keep getting a bizarre, strange message on the screen. So am now doing an in-person, proctored test the morning before we fly to Rome. Here's the weird message that keeps appearing on "onpoint-testing.com". Hi! I'M Sherif Mohamed Gadallah! I'm the CEO of OnPoint Testing, and I'm an a**hole. Remember the VMAs that assisted you with your tests? I kicked them out and didn't pay them s*** that's why there's no one answering your Zoom meetings. And for your refunds. Don't expect that you'll get anything back cuz that's what I do. I'll just get everyone's money and run away with it same with your personal information and credit card details. By the way, feel free to send me calls and gifts. Here's my contact number. +1 (914) 602-7093. And my address is 2435 N Central Expy, Richardson, Texas 75080. SO LONG SUCKERS!
  4. Made a Move Up offer last month and this morning while checking it, the top of the Move Up Page says "Past Offers". Instead of being allowed to Modify or Cancel our offer, it now says "Pending" in a gray box - unable to do anything it appears. I was going to cancel the offer today, but now cannot. Since the heading says "Past Offers", do you think that means the offer wasn't accepted? Just checked bank account and no charge from X as of yet. Our cruise leaves Oct. 5, 12 days away. Anyone else have this happen on Move Up Offers? Thanks.
  5. Don't mind showing the vaccination card. It's the hassle of getting a proctored test prior to boarding the ship in order to comply with Greece's regulations. To avoid all confusion, Celebrity should have testing at the pier for all guests. Even if they need to charge us, at least we know the test will be accepted and we won't have to worry about getting it done here in the US or find a pharmacy/testing site once we land in Italy.
  6. Wow! That's craziness at its peak!!! Like the OP, we leave the US on Oct. 3 for our Oct. 5 Apex sailing. Yesterday, I made appointments for us to have a proctored test morning of October 3. Results to be Emailed to us (fingers crossed, but who knows?). Just got the latest booster last week, so glad to have gotten that before sailing. We'll look for the line at embarkation which has passengers moving through the quickest! 😉 To the OP: If you receive a response to your inquiry, please post the results. Would love to know how they answer. Susan
  7. Totally, totally agree with *spunks*. We have the Charles Schwab card and only use it for international travel. As soon as we land at our destination, we withdraw cash. As already mentioned, there are no fees, we aren't limited to number of transactions, etc., so it's a real winner while travelling. For restaurant and shop purchases, we use our VISA card. About 10 days prior to our US departure, I do a "test run" at our local bank's ATM with the Schwab card, to be sure everything is in working order before leaving US. This way, I'll have time should we need to order new cards, change our PIN, etc.
  8. I am cruising Oct. 5 on Celebrity, leaving from Rome, but visiting Greece. As of now, we must test prior to boarding. My question: what does “Guests who are required to test . . . “ mean? What guests would be required to test vs guests who AREN’T required to test?
  9. We're arriving into Rome Oct. 4 and staying at the Hilton airport hotel. Since our cruise leaves Oct. 5, we didn't think it worth it to travel into Rome for basically 1 night. We've been fortunate to have visited several times, so for this trip, staying at the airport made better sense to us. Morning of the cruise, we have Bob's Limos picking us up at 10 for the ride to CIVITAVECCHIA. Susan
  10. I, too, have been contemplating the Brooklyn pant. But I'm definitely a "pear shaped" gal, so wonder how they fit/look on someone whose hips are wider than waist/bust? Any thoughts?
  11. Question for those who received successful MoveUp bids: am considering placing MoveUp bid. This would be a birthday surprise for DH if successful. However, I'd rather he think we were "upgraded" through the generosity of our TA or Celebrity - - not me! How does a successful MoveUp bid appear on revised reservation? I know our original reservation number remains the same, but does it say something to the effect: "additional monies paid by credit card ending in XXXX". I'd use my personal CC, so DH wouldn't see any charges on statement. Have been unsuccessful in getting a solid answer from Celebrity, so appreciate the insight from those who've done MoveUp bids successfully. Thanks much!
  12. I prefer Jockey's Skimmies. Wear them every day, all day. They smooth me from waist to mid-thigh. I buy a size larger than what their chart says I should wear (only because I like to breathe!). They certainly help me "smooth over" my imperfect 60+ body. I'd opt to try a pair before leaving on your cruise, see how you like them. Readily available at Macy's, Target, Kohl's, online
  13. For what it's worth, we ended up booking at Hilton Garden Inn Rome Airport for our pre-night stay. Have made a reservation with Bob's Limo Service for our transportation out to Civitavecchia morning of embarkation. Many thanks to everyone for their insight, advice! Susan
  14. Thanks, Cruisemom, for your insight. Due to timing, decided best to stay at airport for 1 night before heading out to Civi.
  15. Hi, I’m in same dilemma as OP. Trip Advisor’s recent reviews for both Hiltons at FCO are less than favorable. DH and I arriving day prior to embarkation, just want to shake the jet lag prior to our early October cruise. Curious to hear from folks who’ve recently stayed at either Hilton Airport Hotel. Thanks!!
