Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. My DW and I from are going on the Ascent May 6th , a 12 day Best of Itlay, Turkey, Greece cruise. I have posted on our Roll Call and found a number reporting very few excursions thru Celebrity are available and that it seems early for such a shortage. No feedback from the group when asking the following question: We are late to the cruise party so to speak having just booked, and are frustrated at hearing that so many shore excursions through Celebrity are sold out already and really want the best excursions possible. (not fans of cooking or rug making demonstrations lol) I realize I am going to get a lot of advice to: go on our own and/or look into a Viator or other non ship tour operator and save money etc. However, we like the idea ideally of zero worries about being late for the ship on excursions end. Does anyone have any idea if more Celebrity excursions will be on offer before the cruise? We have used Viator before in our last cruise and in a pinch might suffice. We will go on our own from Villefranche and travel into Rome by train and venture out on our own there as we have been there before. We do hope that things change with more options available for: Euphaseus/Kusadasi, Rhodes, Mykonos and Santorini. We will keep checking, and hope to get some help here with any suggestions about Celebrity info and/or some past experiences in those ports. Long winded thank you for feedback
  2. Oops, sorry; the tendered port is Villefrance servicing Nice/Eze, Santa Maherita for Cinque Terre ( closest 2 towns). My mistake. Mind is elsewhere. We get back from Cinque Terre excursion at 3:30/4 and hope to check out Portofino from Villefrance tender point drop off. Thnxs
  3. Hi my DW and I will be in Barcelona at the end of the week for a few days before our cruise. We were hoping for people to chine in with recommendations for food just off Las Ramblas, and also in the Gothic quarter too please. There are a myriad of reviews, vlogs etc, but we are overwhelmed. We are just looking for a good value non touristy ( overpriced) lunch and dinner in a quaint setting. Tapas fine, pinxots better, chirros, patissieries etc. Your recommendations that don't break the bank are most helpful. Thanks
  4. Hi there . I am wondering if there is a door entering the deck 6 level of Eden from the aft staterooms area. The deck plan on Celebrity's app seems to show a ramp making its way down from Deck 6 to Eden, or is deck 6 stateroom area completely separated and inaccessible from the Eden Lounge? It may seem like a minor thing; but if I can access Eden without an elevator and passing full sized aft facing windows, why not? P.S Does anyone have any hidden gem locations that are off the radar on the Edge (not well known to the masses?) that others could share? (I guess passengers would want to keep these places to themselves to keep them private lol). Just curious. Thanks
  5. Am I to assume that the deck plans on Celebrity site that looks like you can access a ramp and make your way down to Eden from Deck 6 is incorrect? The topic seems to have diverted to a personal preference discussion. I have not been on the Edge and am on deck 6. Eden looks quite interesting regardless and if we can get there without the elevator and what appears a curved ramp full of aft facing windows...cool and I hope there is a way to do that. Maybe a bit trivial , but thought I'd ask some savvy cruisers. Thanks P.S are there any hidden gems of interesting off the radar spots on the Edge that others could share? (I guess passengers wouldn't want to share their hidden finds would they lol) Curious and excited for the upcoming cruise
  6. Hi. I'm looking for advice/information about how most make their way from their Cruise ship to the Civitavecchia to Rome train station from their cruise ship when you arrive. My DW and I are arriving in Civitavecchia on a Celebrity cruise in May and already have our train tickets in to Rome...but what ways are there to get from the ship to the Train station? Advice/help/suggestions/experiences greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance
  7. Hi there. I'm looking for the easiest/best/namely quickest way to get from Santa Margherita (after my shore excursion) to Portofino. We are back from our excursion to Nice/Eze at 3:30 to hopefully not as late as 4pm at wherever the port terminal?/tendered boats dock. (I imagine in the center of the bay). Help with where this is is appreciated as well . The ship departs at 6pm that day and we want to be back 1 hour before. The challenging part to this is that we are tendering in/out as you all would know; so time is a factor. We realize that IF we can make it to Portofino that we will not have time to do it justice. We realize this; it will be for a quick overview of the bay and marina etc. Does anyone have any advice/tips/suggestions?? Thank you in advance.

  9. My DW and I are looking for advice/suggestions for local feel Piazza Navonna restaurants please. We are staying nearby in May and could use some personal experience/advice for breakfast, on the go places and dinner too. If there happens to be any appertivo/appertif bars you can pass on it is greatly appreciated. Feeling a bit overwhelmed. Thanks.

  11. Thanks all. As I thought and had done so yrs ago on Oasis if the Seas. Much appreciated up to date sound feedback
  12. Help please with if I am required to bring my original passport with me on Celebrity cruise shore excursions in Spain, France and Italy. I had hoped that a photocopy would suffice ; as you can imagine the problems with a potentially lost/stolen original. The cruise departs from Barcelona May 1st, then visit: Palma de Mallorca, Mersaille, Villefranche, Santa Margherita, La Spezia, Cagliari, Messina, Naples and finish in Rome. Ideas, and feedback much appreciated. Thanks P.s I am Canadian with a valid passport traveling from Toronto
  13. Maybe a very subjective question; given that no one can precisely predict the weather 100 percent, or can tell what water temperature I can endure; but I was hoping for those who have been on such a cruise if you could tell me if the pool deck was busy and temps warm enough for sunning and swimming. Much appreciated. P.S Sea days are May 3rd and May 1oth
  14. Hey there. My DW and I are on our first Mediterranean cruise and first time on Celebrity. We are pretty excited about our upcoming cruise on what looks like an interesting ship with some magnificent ports of call. We are going May 1st. Just saying hello to fellow Canadians . Hope to hear from others. Cameron and Linda
  15. My DW and I are looking for advice and experience(s) reg us trying to utilize our time and take the train from Villfrance to Monaco/Monte Carlo for a quick sightsee and return before our meeting time at the Cruise Terminal? (where the Tender docks) for 12: 45. As we aren't a coveted Suite or other highly esteemed passenger status and that we have the Celebrity tour at midday; we are worried that we will get off the ship and over to shore with not enough time to take our little side-trip before we comfortably meet with our tour to Nice and Eze. Any experience in doing this? the logistics of it? Feasibility? Tips? or worst case : other alternatives within Villefrance? Help with this is greatly appreciated. Thnx Cameron and Linda
