Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Yes it was refunded to my onboard folio and has now been "referred to corporate finance" which I'm assuming will be responsible for the actual issuance of the refund. That was the part I wasn't sure how long would take. And yes, I have a copy of my final account in my email.
  2. Anyone know when we can expect the refunds to hit our credit cards for this missed port? We had Princess sponsored Ketchikan excursions pre-booked and pre-paid so we are due roughly $700 in refunds. Just curious when I can actually expect to get the refund.
  3. We are cruising out of Vancouver in 2 weeks on Princess. At the end of the cruise, our flight home isn't until 1:45pm. It looks like the last self assist walk off time starts at 9am. About how long can we expect that process to take? Or should we utilize the option to let them take our bags and get one of the later times (9:25am being the latest)? How long should that take, including finding and retrieving our luggage? We don't need to head to the train station until a little after 10am to get to the airport by 10:45am and I would prefer we aren't just sitting around twiddling our thumbs for an hour.
  4. Yes, I can try to pop by! We don't typically dine at pay restaurants on cruises, but I can still go by and see what the price is.
  5. The tracking will be very useful for us too. On our NCL Christmas cruise, I swear we must have kept walking circles around each other when we'd try to find one another.
  6. My family of 4 (including a 15 year old stepson and 3.5 year old daughter) cruise next month out of Vancouver to Alaska on the Sapphire Princess. Excursions are booked, final payment date is passed. I've currently also made dinner reservations at the MDRs every night as well. We have the original Princess Plus package (before the first price increase). 1) I know medallions will be shipped out a couple of weeks before departure and we've selected the free ones. I need to order something to carry them with, does anyone have a favorite accessory? My stepson and I would probably prefer a wristband. My daughter would be most likely to keep hers on if we can find a wristband that fits a toddler's wrist or ankle. She'd take a necklace off in two seconds. Husband will probably just keep his in his pocket. 2) Self-service laundry, we plan on doing laundry once or twice on the ship to minimize the amount we have to pack (since we are a family of 4). If I understand correctly, I don't need to bring quarters on board? I just scan my medallion and get tokens which go into the washer and dryer? Can I also scan and get detergent, or should I bring single use detergent packs? Is the laundry 24/7? 3) There is no pre-booking of production shows. With our daughter being 3.5 years old, we'd obviously want any 7 or 7:30pm shows. How early would we need to get to the theater to insure decent seats? We prefer having an aisle seat in case one of us needs to make a break for it with the toddler so that we disturb as few people as possible. 4) Also related to our 3.5 year old, which MDR has the most 4+ person window tables? On our NCL pre-Christmas cruise last December, our daughter struggled to stay seated the entire meal at dinner in the MDRs and I usually had to bring out my phone and let her color on a toddler drawing app. I think if we can have a window table, she'll be better able to stay content, so we'd probably prioritize our dinner reservations to those we'd most likely be able to get a window table at. We will do the buffet and other complimentary venues for breakfast and lunches, most likely. 5) In the kid's area, are parents allowed to stay? She's old enough to make use of the kid's area, but we wouldn't want to check her in and leave her, but I know she'd love to play in the area. 6) Are you able to track your party through the Princess app? We generally let my 15 year old stepson have free reign on cruises. He's old enough and responsible enough that we are fine with letting him wander. But sometimes we obviously want to find him. When you have the medallion on you, is there a way to track the others in the app? So that we could know, ok he's in the arcade or he's at the buffet, etc.
  7. If there is anything you have your heart set on doing, I'd book as early as possible. We are cruising next month and will have our 3 year old with us. I know there are a lot of excursions that aren't small kid friendly so I wanted to make sure we got excursions booked that would benefit our entire family and booked our excursions back in the spring.
  8. That's a good idea! I always forget about the roll calls.
  9. We will be going on an Alaska cruise on the Sapphire in September from Vancouver (round-trip). Does anyone have any recent Princess Patters they can share? I don't think I've come across any one week ones out of Vancouver for this season yet.
  10. I've had the same question regarding our booking and haven't gotten a clear answer yet. We booked our cruise during a 3rd and 4th Passenger Sail Free promotion and I later upgraded my husband and I to Princess Plus. Afterward, I tried to go in and prepay the gratuities for our two kids and I get the same statement you got, that crew appreciation was paid for via promotion. To be determined if we end up getting charged their crew appreciation once on board. I'm perfectly fine either way, I just wish I knew ahead of time so I could budget for it or not. I see your cruise isn't until February. Ours is in September and I will be more than happy to update then what ends up happening with the crew appreciation for our kids.
  11. Yes our daughter is potty trained thankfully!
  12. Thank you for this review! We took my daughter (almost 3.5 years old) on her first cruise a few weeks before Christmas on NCL. She wasn't yet 3 when we were on that cruise. I was really disappointed that NCL did not have anything for kids ages 2-3. There was a tiny, closet sized room for kids under the age of 3 (where parents stay with the kids) but we glanced in one day and it was obviously geared towards babies not toddlers. I knew ahead of time that she wouldn't be able to use the regular kids club since she wasn't 3, but it was still disappointing just how underwhelming the room was for kids under 3. I am so excited for our upcoming Princess cruise because I can see how great their kids room will be and that she is now old enough to partake in the activities.
  13. Thank you for this! My daughter wasn't 3 yet on our pre-Christmas cruise on NCL so she sadly couldn't take part in the kid's club on NCL. But she is 3 now so I'm very excited to let her enjoy the Sapphire kids' club area!
  14. Unfortunately we aren't retired and are traveling with 2 kids, one of whom is in high school so we can't miss the amount of time a B2B2B requires.
  15. Aww man, I'm bummed! We are booked on the Sapphire Princess for September 20th out of Vancouver so we'll have just missed him.
