Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Greenpea 2 Saw your posting so I thought I would say Hi. Hope you have a great time and I do give you permission to have one ok maybe two for us remembering the "classes" we were in. Sam aka Andy, Buffalo, NY
  2. I bring 2 debit cards in the amounts of 500 and 300 for a total of 800. I provide the 500 card when I board which should cover any expenses that I will have. I will be paying before we leave 2-2 pks of coupons to be used at specialty restaurants along with 4 others that I will receive and before we leave I am buying a special dinner at La Bistro which includes a bottle of wine and 2 photos of us taken in their studio. The DC will be used for martini classes, anything that I will buy to take back with me, and if I order a drink over the 15 which is charged to your account, Tips will be paid for in cash along with gambling, I got the 300 DC just in case I run low but I do not think that will happen, This card will be used for a special dinner when we get back to celebrate her birthday.
  3. Just a quick note to all of you who responded to my question regarding martini classes and the La Bistro package with wine and 2 included photographs. I am glad hopefully, there will be martini classes as I met people via the Meet and Greet where their spouse didn't drink martinis so her and I would meet at the classes and have our 5 martinis then maybe continue at the Martini Bar We kept in touch for a while until she discovered NCL cruises in Europe which we have no desire to go to Europe with the wife does not have the vacation time so we will stick to cruises leaving NYC for either the Carribean or Canada But once the wife retires in 10 years we will go to Alaska As far as the La Bistro we will just go to La Bisto as it is one of our favorite places to eat on NCL along with Cagney's and The Bar on a Sunday afternoon watching the Bills play and hopefully on their way to the Super Bowl. I would not have minded to pay the money for the package wiwh La Bisto which included 2 bottles of wine, dinner and the 2 photos but not not that if I have get a $1200 photo package I rather get my 2 photos which I guess is taken in the studio, If they did take photos of us around the ship ok as long as we can pick and chose which extra photo(s) who would like and not at a marked up price
  4. I am booked on NCL Prima next year after due to covid on ships I was not able to sail I was just wondering if NCL brought back martini tasting where you can have 5 different martini samples for $25 over a time period of an hour or hour and half. In the past I have always gone to the tasting and enjoyed myself along with anyone I could convince to join me. Some of my new friends and me would continue to have a couple of more after class just relax and talk. They live/lived in the NYC/NJ area with me living in the Albany area. (a long story but I live in the Buffalo, NY area The other question is there a get together when you may get dressed up to have your photo taken with the Captain or a member of his staff who spends an hour or so having their photo taken with you of course a cost to you if you want the photo. It was held on a sea day which I believe the 2nd full day at sea. The reason I am asking I am planning on buying a dinner package for this night which I get a bottle of wine in the room the first night, dinner with another bottle of wine, 2 photos taken of you and the person you take to dinner and snacks delivered to your room during the week. The restaurant is La Bistro which I would make reservations of 730pm since the photo session ends at 6pm which gives us time to freshen up and have a drink before dinner. Thank You for any info that you can provide me.
  5. OrangeCatRamble Just a note regarding Prima. I got a lot of information, Up till yesterday morning I was booked on the Joy for an August, 2024 cruise, which seem like a good time in the Carribean. The only thing that I did not like was that we would be docked in San Juan ftill 8pm. I spent 2 years in San Juan working and was called back 2 more times 30-60 days each time. One thing that we were told is not to go to Old San Juan at night, this was early 70s when one guy owned two "houses" where mostly guys were go to.but he was never bothered by the police. When I saw the Prima and that where in port in Old San Juan it is during the day where you can walk around, shop, walk to ethe forts, have a couple of drinks before going back to the ship. I was sold. I called my PCC and told her what I wanted to do and within 10 minutes my reservation was made with the room I wanted but I will be sailing the end of November 2024 to the first week of December which does not bother me since I am retired,
  6. On YouTube under Cruise Ships. Cruise News Today Jude Parker did a short story about the January 2024 cancelation of the Joy. He reported that NCL will be refunding all the money plus a 10% FCC and when the Joy is ready to sail in February the Joy will be sailing out of the Port of Miami. I am sailing on the Joy to the Caribbean from NYC and cannot wait due to covid and the NCL cruises that were cancelled. Sam The Cat
  7. Ok thanks for the info. I will have to go to them since my shopping only lasts 1/2 hour and I will need something to do till it is time to get back on the ship. I lived in San Juan for 2 years and was called back 3 other times to help out on something but I spent my free time in St. Thomas with no time at the beach even though I did live on the beach for 8 months it was not worth the money that I had to pay for rent, When I was called back I lived at a hotel where I got a free breakfast had a nice restaurant which served good food and then I could walk around and act like a tourist but not spend the money like a tourist. We will be stopping in San Juan 2 times in August 2024 on the same cruise first time will be from 3pm and we leave at 10pm the other will be during the day leaving at 4pm I think so I will have time to go to Senor Frogs in San Juan. I am not much of a partier, but I went there since it was near the pier, and you should have to run to get on the ship Sam
  8. Just wondering no Senor Frogs in St. Thomas?? Due to covid my cruises have been canceled but I usually go to Senor Frogs at the Pier as my last stop before boarding the ship to the next island, I agree you can spend money there but since I am on vacation, I will spend it as long as I do not miss getting on board I do not want to be filmed as a runner. If this is the case, I guess I will have to spend time at Senor Frogs in San Juan Sam
  9. I am cruising August, 2024 on NCL Joy and even though 2 years away was wondering if NCL discontinued the Martini Tasting they offered for $25, It was a great way to kill afternoon(s) when you are at sea or to hurry back to the ship so you would not miss out on the tasting, I got to meet people who I had dinner with and one who I drove to PA from Buffalo to have coffee with. While walking around the small town we found a place that sold ice cream but cannot remember if we got any. We communicated for a while and I guess we both moved on as I stopped hearing from her Thanks for any info that anyone can provide
  10. I just received my notice from NCL for my August, 2024 Joy cruise, about not being tested to get back in nothing was said about being tested leaving. Since I am not sailing for 2 years I am sure there will be changes in what tests and when
  11. I have been on several NCL ships starting out with the Dawn when was introduced, the Gem, Spirt, Jewel, and will be sailing on the Joy in 2 years after several cancelations of cruises by NCL. Sailed on Dawn and Gen several times with the Gem I was introduced to the suites. On the Spirit, some how I was able to sail in the owners suite. There was just my girl friend and we did not know there were 2 bedrooms until the 4th day when we were looking around our suite. In all of the cruises I never had any complaints about anything or any staff
