Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Glad I found this thread. I was planning on purchasing the FAS+ prior to my cruise and using a statement credit. But I just looked and it appears the statement credit redemption no longer exists. Then I thought I would redeem for OBC and use that to purchase precruise, but then learned NCL doesn't allow you to use OBC prior to the cruise like RCL and CCL does. So then, I thought I would just upgrade once onboard, but that doesn't appear to be an option either. They are not making this easy for me.
  2. Thank you. I'm anxiously awaiting the 2025 Caribbean schedule to come out. The Prima would be great to sail on either a 7 or 14 day. We are booked up for 2024 already with a Carnival and RCL.
  3. I thought I would give an update on my points situation after NCL cancelled my cruise and I have received the refund in hopes of helping anyone else who may have this situation in the future. My 25,000 bonus points are still there and were not removed, however, they are removing 7,500 points from a $250 payment, 4,725 points for a $900 payment, 4,725 points for a $900 payment, and 2,700 points for a $900 payment. So I will be losing 12,900 points total. I guess I can live with that.
  4. Thank you. I've decided to just leave the points alone for now and see what happens when the refund hits. I have a feeling this is going to get complicated. When I first got the card, I spent the necessary $1,000 to get the 25,000 bonus points. $750 of the $1,000 was spent on the cruisefirst certificates. $250 was spent on payment for the cruise, plus I've been making monthly payments to budget so the full payment on the cabins wouldn't be due all at once at final payment date. So with the refund, I guess I may lose my 25,000 bonus points. Which will make me upset since this was no fault of my own.
  5. Hi, I currently have 44,000 points on this card. I had 3 cabins booked on a 14 day cruise in January 2025. NCL cancelled that cruise and I'm awaiting a refund on the card from NCL. Will those points be wiped out? If I use the points before the refund, what happens if the points are gone before the refund is posted. All points were accrued through payments made to NCL, however, I purchased 3 cruisefirst certificates when they matched $500 for a $250 purchase. The cruisefirst certs are already showing on all three accounts. So I'm assuming $750 won't get refunded since it was used to purchase the 3 cruisefirst certs. I'm just not sure how to play the "points game" on if I should use the points prior to refund. Again, this was NCL cancelling the cruise, so not sure if that makes a difference.
  6. I received notice today that NCL has cancelled all Escape cruises from Galveston January 2025 thru March 2025. I'm a bit bummed because I loved the itinerary. The email states we'll receive full refund (we were over half paid off) and 10% off a future cruise. We used $250 cruisefirst certificates for $500 payment on all three cabins, I guess we will lose that $250 cruisefirst amount and all the points I racked up on the NCL credit card. They only mention Future Cruise certs in the email. Their reason for cancelling is "repositioning", but I had a felling that many 14 day cruises out of Galveston in a three month period would be hard to fill up the ship.
  7. Hello, we had a person join our group as a 2nd booking on a reservation of our sister. She has sailed Carnival many times back in the early years, but has not sailed in a very long time. She will need to use her birth certificate and drivers license. Her birth certificate shows J*** J******, her maiden name. Her past guest and reservation is under J*** B*******, her first marriage name, but B****** is deceased. She remairried and her driver's license shows J*** B*******-R******. When I called Carnival to add her to the booking, the rep just stated he needed to put her under J*** B***** since that is what her past guest is under. Will she just need her birth certificate and driver's license or will she also need Marriage cert to first husband, death certh of first hustband, marriage of 2nd husband?
  8. She has all of those offers codes, but we cannot get the code they are currently booked under changed because there are no Havana Cabanas available to get current casino rate pricing. There has to be a same category cabin OR upgrade available to change the code. Since DH and I are paying for the cruise for them, we don't want to shell out any more money for an upgrade plus we have 4 Havana Cabanas in a row with them in the middle, so an upgrade would break up our group. There may be a cancellation before we sail in September.
  9. I called. The very nice rep told me that we could change to any of the casino offers she had available to her if there was a same type of cabin available. Unfortunately, there are no Havana Cabanas open to compare rate codes to, so he cannot change the rate code (at this time). He did say that if I see that one becomes available, to call back and they could do a comparison at that time. We are all paid off, but final payment due date isn't until next month, so there may be a cancellation by someone.
  10. Thank you for your response. My rate code is fine. I'm perfectly happy with the price and deal I got for my cabin. My question was regarding my sister-in-law's rate code that she received when we booked her cabin next to our. We have now added her sister-in-law to her booking as the 2nd person in her cabin. Her sister-in-law has many great casino offers that she was unaware of that would provide her some REALLY great perks. I do not go into the casino except to walk through it, so I am not familiar with the ins-and-outs of casino offers.
  11. Back story: We booked a Havana Cabana (DH and I) over a year ago and booked another Havana Cabana for his sister next to us with TBA for 2nd person in case she wanted to bring someone else. We love to travel with her. Well, fast forward to now, and she asked her sister-in-law if she wanted to go and she said yes. Her SIL hasn't sailed since Noah's Arc. I went to add her name to the booking today and found her VIFP number. She has about 18 casino offers on her VIFP number. We're already paid in full, but a month prior to final payment due date. If Carnival will allow a rate code change to one of her offers, she would get OBC and free drinks anywhere on the ship plus casino credit (and possibly lower rate than we originally paid). There are no Havana Cabana's available to book, so I'm not sure if they could even change to rate code to the offer. We booked directly with Carnival, so no agent is involved.
  12. Thank you. I booked cabins on deck 12 aft and we have a stair perosn. He will not use the elevators. So 3 to 12 won't be so bad with a bar stop about half way 🙂 then a walk to the aft stairway before finishing the climb.
  13. I found where we enter the ship on deck 5 at embarkation. Does anyone know which deck the gangway is on for the ports like Cozumel, Costa Maya, etc? The deck plans only go down to deck 4.
