Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Can that charge be made in the photo gallery when I go look for the embarkation photo? I assume they do those photos just like Carnival does....? Once on board everything is charged on your room card...
  2. My travel agent said it had to be used before the cruise...but it's not from them so I will go with your info. Thanks!
  3. When I logged on to look at my booked and PIF cruise for Alaska in July a banner came up that I have "pre-cruise" credit. Does that mean I have to spend it BEFORE the cruise?? Or can I use it after boarding? I have always had credit on Carnival and like to use it on embarkation photos..I assume they do that with RC?? (photo with backdrop of the ship and date of cruise)
  4. My understanding from a YouTube video is there is someplace where there is seating and food with great views on the back of the ship. I will have to find it and watch it again. I know that is the case on Carnival ships. I plan on reviewing all the food options well before we board lol
  5. I think it may depend on the Carnival ship...?
  6. What a relief about the casino noise! I have done an Alaskan cruise before but this will be a first for hubby. I decided to get an ocean view this time so we can really enjoy the views (even though I love being up on deck). We normally like to do an inside cabin so we sleep well as well as save $. We have done OV a few times and this time merited it. I'm kind of excited to give RC a try!
  7. Great information!! Thank you. Ive watched a few YouTube videos so I'm getting a feel for the layout of the ship. The videos of the windjammer make the food look like a step up from Carnival, and I saw the plug for the very back of the ship. We have done Holland and Celebrity before too. We have found no cruise is bad lol.
  8. We have booked an Alaskan cruise (July, Ovation). We have never sailed RC and I am a bit nervous about such a big ship... Watching a YouTube video I was pretty surprised at the Lido food. My first thought after watching the video showing just the Lido was "Carnival who?" lol. It definitely looks like a step up from Carnival! Any tips about navigating such a large ship and all that there is to see and do on board would be greatly appreciated! We are deck 3, ocean view...wondering what that looks like as it shows its by the casino??
  9. We were there last May. We got the nicer bigger cabana. It was really nice. The cost of entry was included with the cost of the cabana. The snorkeling spot was right in front of us, delicious drinks and snacks (drinks were extra). We loved the little private shower behind our cabana (shower head was a big conch shell). They gave us a ride from the front entrance and a ride back at the end of our day. It's a bit of a walk otherwise. I would probably do that again if we went back to Cozumel...but I would ask them to honor the credit they owed us that I over paid. (I paid for my 8 month old grandson). They told me at the gate when we arrived they realized I had done that and the reimbursement was already in process. A follow up email after we home still didn't result in an answer or money returned. Other than that we loved it.
  10. Yes, reason being the shuttles I've looked into are getting pretty close to what having the rental car will cost. We dont fly home until Saturday evening (cruise ends Friday morning) so we will want to do something Friday and most of Saturday. No fun going all the way to Florida to just sit in a hotel until you fly home...We also will have time before the cruise (all day Sunday until embarkation Monday)
  11. Thank you. You make it look so easy lol. Previously we have driven to the port and got on the ship (Galveston). Much less planning. But our son and DIL chose a cruise out of Florida instead of Texas. I was going to do it that way but to rent the car again it came out more expensive as well as a greater distance to get to the car rental place after the cruise as the ones at the port show as being "unavailable" (closed?) I'm going to run the numbers again but it looked like the least expensive way was to just park the rental at one of the sites that shuttle you back to the port. (Park N Cruise $10.95 a day vs $17 a day at the port).
  12. Soooo, we are flying into MCO Saturday for a cruise on Monday-Friday. Flying back home on Saturday. I've done some checking on shuttles, Uber and rental cars costs. I think the flexibility of having a rental car to get around to see and do things and returning to MCO is worth a few dollars more (not a bunch more...) is the best option. Ive looked at booking through Costco and parking at the port...I may also opt for a less expensive nightly stay in Orlando verses Cocoa beach hotels. I'm tired of this trips planing, I'm ready to just pull the trigger so I can relax and look forward to this trip! * there are 4 of us
  13. Oh wow!! I did a mock booking for Uber from MCO to a hotel near the port. I got closer to $88. I guess I'll stick with my original plans of getting a rental car. Its $287 (I went with a small SUV for about $30 more) which will give us options in hotels to choose (higher priced hotel with walkable to beach vs on the highway) and sight seeing before the cruise (Saturday night through Monday). There are 4 of us.
  14. Thank you, Knights on the Beach!
