Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Yep, I realize that. I don't think the employee realized that though. I had zero confidence in him. But so glad to hear that repricings still happen without cancel/rebooking. It's been a while since we've cruised.
  2. Thanks all! Yes, mock bookings were how I found it in the first place. Glad to hear that they still reprice without cancelling. I think this employee I had on the line was a bit clueless. He couldn't explain why the price had reduced or even what the nature of it was, and he didn't seem to know how to put the refundable deposit back on. All he was able to do was give me the amount of price reduction I would get and he knew how to cancel. I had him back out of the booking without changing anything.
  3. that very well could be......one booking was going to be 700+ less and the other was 672 less. So both right around 700$. Wonder if that's the going rate for a refundable $500 deposit.
  4. to clarify.....not that I would lose my deposits....just that I had refundable deposits....and the new bookings would not have refundable deposits.
  5. Long time cruiser, and I enjoy booking my own cruises. However, I have not cruised since 2019.....does the following info sound correct? I found that my 2024 B2B cruise prices went down significantly. I called Crown & Anchor and the gentleman explained that they could not do a price adjustment, but he could cancel both bookings, and refund the tours, and packages I already paid for, and then rebook. And I would lose my refundable deposit on both cruises. I decided against doing all that. Does this sound like a valid response? So no price adjustments anymore....just cancel/rebook is the only option? What if I just want to call back and upgrade these same two cruises from balcony to junior suite, is the same scenario (in that I'd have to cancel and rebook). The cruises are for May 2024. I was just wondering. I know that sometimes the employees at RCCL may be under trained, but I figured someone here would know for sure. Please no judgements about me booking my own trips. Thanks in advance.
  6. Thank you all! I'll be sure to check the menus on the app. The app is new to us. Glad to know they post the menus. That's a good point that it might still be a Portofinos. That did not occur to me.
  7. We usually skip Giovanni's...however I noticed a video of Giovanni's on Wonder of the Seas and it had garlic knots, chicken parm, etc. Is that specific to just Wonder, or are they rolling this menu out to all the Giovanni's? If so, I want to be sure to book it. Thanks in advance. PS: We are booked on Serenade of the Seas and Radiance of the Seas.
  8. We did Old Town Trolley and had 2 day passes and used it to get around prior to our cruise, but the bad part about using them on your port day in Boston is that the the trolley stops at 5pm. So you would have to get a cab or lift back to the ship at whatever stop you were at when the trolley service ends. The stops we enjoyed were the Old Statehouse, and the USS Constitution and John Cassin. Also near the USS Constitution is Warren Tavern which we had a great lunch of fish and chips. Bunker Hill is near there too. Also the Old North Church is nice to tour, but the trolley doesn't let you off near it, you have to walk to it. About the only thing we toured in Boston that we felt disappointed was Paul Revere's house.....it only had 1 piece of furniture that was said to have been his. The rest of the furnishings were not related to him. Hope this helps. That would be nice if the cruise line does run a shuttle for you.
  9. For cool weather cruises (Alaska and Canada/New England), there were family hours posted for the solarium pool, but it was minimal. Maybe a short time in the morning and another time slot in the afternoon. It was posted in the Cruise Compass each day.
  10. This happened to us a few years ago. A hurrican was going up the east coast. We stayed one day behind it. We experienced about 30 minutes of minor swells, and the Captain announced we were moving to a calmer water and sure enough in a bit we were calm again. The only problem we experienced was at Bar Harbor, we were booked for the schoonar, but the storm the previous night had caused some sort of damage (I think it was their gangway). So we were refunded that tour. We did not miss any ports.

We did the rail/bus combo with our son. I think it was about 30 minutes for each leg. He did fine. But for me, 30 minutes on the train was long enough for me too. I think we did the bus ride first, and then train back. They instructed us at the end to stay seated on the train while customs boarded. I believe we all had to hold our passports up while they walked down the aisle. We were instructed not to take pictures of them. Have fun! We took our son on 3 Alaska cruises. (Only did the train once though....it was enough).
  12. I'm sorry I didn't read all 24 pages, but I'm hoping someone can tell me.....are there still savory bites? I really like those little triangle breads each evening. Thanks! I was glad to see there's still an option to order the Chops upgraded filet in the MDR. We haven't cruise in quite a few years.
