Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. We are on the same cruise (I assume if you are on the Breakaway). We booked this week because it was cheaper than the week prior and now I know why! haha. I typically research the heck out of things but my husband took the lead on booking this trip and I had NO idea that color would be done by Mid October. We'll know for next time, and I'm still very excited!
  2. Haha. My Dad said the same! We've only cruised when it was a gift from MIL, and when she was buying 4-6 rooms, she always got insides. Obviously we weren't complaining 🙂 But after this I'm sure we'll never go back to an inside, lol!
  3. We had bids in, but yesterday my husband called and was able to upgrade us from an inside to a balcony for $200, on our Oct 16th sailing. We felt this was a good deal and are pretty excited about it as its our very first non inside room. It was less than any of our bids as well.
  4. We reserved ours too! I decided to forgo Cadillac mountain. Having to choose a time made it a bit too complicated in my head. I asked a friend who spent a week in Acadia last year and said they didn't even go up because of all the things to do. So we are going to do the loop, hike Beehive, and any other little hikes we can manage in that time. I think we also plan to just buy our park pass right in town, just in case we aren't able to get off the ship for any reason. Hope you have a great time!
  5. My husband and I just booked a half day with one on the 19th. Planning Cadilliac mountain first (with a reservation) then doing the loop road, stopping at the highlights and hiking Beehive. Thank you for mentioning them!
  6. Oh my husband mentioned this and I thought it was crazy two months ago, but maybe this is exactly my answer!
  7. We are in the same boat (pun intended). Arriving that week and had no idea that the IE buses stopped. We want to hike, rendering the tours useless. However, Olley's does do a tour of the park, you just can't go off on your own when booked with them. I would reach out to them, that may be our best option as well, if I want to see the park at all.
  8. I had no idea mid October would be the end of the season, I thought that was the most popular time! I'm so bummed.
  9. My husband and I are leaving Oct 16th. My one desire is to hike 5-6 miles in Acadia. The Island Explorer would have been ideal for this, but alas, it stops running the week before. I do not want to take a tour because we don't want to ride a bus through the park. I got excited thinking I could walk to the park, but that seems to just be some basic trails near the port that are on park land. I've tried looking into Uber but can't get a clear idea on whether they are allowed to drive into the park, whether they will be difficult getting a return ride, etc. Has anyone gotten to the park to explore on your own without a car or the Island Buses or a Tour operator? Thank you!
