  1. We've done a number of trans Pacific cruises on HAL (both directions). I'll try to answer your questions. 1. We've done many cruises over 30 days and don't get bored. We've always found activities to suit our interests. 2. No. We've eaten many consecutive days in the LIDO with no problem. Generally we don't eat in the MDR because we like to enjoy the 7:30pm entertainment on the Main Stage. 3. Re: beaches it really depends upon the port. 4. Sometimes there have been addition enrichment lectures and additional craft type activities or music lessons (ukelele, etc.) 5. Weather has been no issue for us at any time except circling Japan. 6. Start with a positive attitude and have a mind set to enjoy yourself. With all of that said, we're embarking on a Princess ship in Sydney in a couple weeks to do a trans Pacific on the Majestic Princess to try out another cruise line and a bigger ship. I already know that the number of our port stops are far fewer than on a comparable HAL cruise.
  2. We were on the 2023 GSA and missed a couple of ports due to weather issues. On the day that we missed the Falkland Islands stop, I had a HAL flyer offering a good price on a 3 week 2024 cruise from San Antonio to BA. I took that info down to the FCC onboard the Zaandam and she beat that price by $400 plus we received the benefits of booking onboard (shipboard credit). Yes, we made the ports that we missed on the first cruise.
  3. We were on the 2023 Grand South America and the 3 week 2024 Oosterdam San Antonio to BA cruises recently and I saw no such markings on the cans. Zero is our drink of choice.
  4. I would add that any cruise booked on board can be transferred later to your favorite travel agent and you don't loose the benefits gained by booking on board plus you get whatever benefits your travel agent adds. We've done this many times.
  5. You are correct. The content of our sign or of our neighbors' is irrelevant to this thread. What is relevant is that a new hire elected to enforce indiscriminately and without documentary support a previously undisclosed Princess policy which bans all signs except those approved in advance by the company. Our room attendant, a safety auditor, room supervisor and even the Front Desk personnel had no issue with door decorations.
  6. The door decoration was not in any way shape or form offensive nor were those of our neighbors. It appears there was a zealous new crew member trying to make an impression by enforcing a little known policy in an inconsistent manner.
  7. Our neighbors refused to take theirs down . . .
  8. Trust me I will. I even raised the issue in my current situation when I asked "How can I be expected to comply with a policy that is not disclosed in advance and is against a practice which has been in place for many years and even encouraged?"
  9. Door decorations are still officially banned but we'll try again on the Emerald next month.
  10. As a follow up to my original post, I had a great discussion with our stateroom attendant and he definitely doesn't like being put in the position of being a door decoration policeman. The person who is enforcing the rule is a Princess new hire who is going by the book. Also he said that we have a "Safety Auditor" onboard and that he spoke with that person and they had no issue with door decorations. And lastly, the people staying in a stateroom aft of us refused to take down their decoration and it's still up. As for us, we're complying and trying to not let us be discouraged about sailing with Princess. There are definitely more important issues than whether door decorations are permitted. We had a great last port stop at Mahogany Bay where we had the best snorkeling of the trip. Today we're enjoying the first of two sea days on our way back to Galveston. 11. I couldn't find any policy, but I did read the policy that was shown to me by a supervisor onboard. It's a full ban except for recitations approved by Princess.
  12. I asked and they wouldn't give it to me. I did read the official document.
  13. They have specifically told me that the corridors are public spaces.
  14. It was funny when the supervisor explained that we could decorate the inside of our cabin. We're trying to like Princess but they throw up many obstacles like disingenuous front desk help, no public front facing interior space, self serve buffets, this ban, slow drink service, a broken and incomplete app, inadequate tendering capability, and a few more. On the flip side, the food is good, the entertainment has been excellent, and the general ship vibe is good.
  15. I was specifically told that the inside of the door is fine except for covering the peep hole.
