First time Disney cruiser. Our boarding time is 2:45 pm. We have a few hours to kill. Is it possible to drop off your luggage and go to a nearby mall?

My daughter may not be able to go next month. I called and asked if there was any way my sister could go instead. They said no - it would be considered a cancellation and I would lose my money. Has anyone been successful doing this and how?
