Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. I got moved up from a prime concierge to a Sky suite for my upcoming cruise. My understanding, backed by some research, indicates that I carry to the Sky Suite whatever amenities I had from concierge, but nothing more unless I pay for it. Specifically, I have basic Wi-Fi, the premium beverage package (only because I upgraded when I was in concierge, my concierge OBC, and my gratuities, although I believe my gratuities might possibly be higher because they are higher in suites. I did hear that most of the time they tend to forget about extra charges, but i would not bank on that. Beyond that, everything anybody else gets in Retreat, you get!
  2. Hi All - I have a suite booked on Beyond coming up soon. My wife was looking at the Luminae dinner menu, and she says it may be difficult on some nights for her to find something she is interesting (she is not a big fan of French cuisine (think sauces)). I know you can usually get "classic" menu items, but I heard that is it. Also, I heard that "Blu" is also possible, but that depends on availability. So here is the basic question - As a Suite passenger, is there any restaurant onboard (excluding specialty restaurants and Blu) where I won't be seated for dinner? Or stated more directly, if we see something on the Main Dining menu, can we just go to the Main dining room? From what I have read, I'm thinking yes, but I'm looking for someone's actual experience. I heard this is possible on some S-class ships, due to closeness of MDR and Luminae, but not sure about Beyond. Thanks, Gary
  3. I’ve tried a move-up several times, I’ve never got a rejection email; got nothing. But yesterday, I was reviewing old emails and came across a move-up email for my upcoming Beyond cruise on April12. For the heck of it, I submitted an upgrade from infinite veranda to a Sky Suite, and this morning I got a notice that my move-up bid was accepted. My bid was on the weak/fair border, but needless to say I was shocked. So who knows-keep hoping! Gary
  4. Just to close this out from OP point of view. I took pre-cruise proctored Covid test and am still testing positive. So I am in the process of trying to contact Celebrity to let them know and get everything cancelled. I did manage to get my “flights by Celebrity” cancelled, but not without a $200 pp cancellation fee (figures, no more flights by Celebrity for me), but I have had no luck getting the actual cruise cancellation taken care. It’s basically “Celebrity Hell”! Why doesn’t Celebrity have a dedicated number for these last minute cancellations? Terrible! Oh well, I guess there are options for my next trip, which I will probably explore. Gary
  5. Maybe some of you haven’t noticed in the message sent out today, but Celebrity has done done wordsmithing about what happens when you contract Covid onboard. From now on, it’s all yours baby! Celebrity will provide options, but your wallet will be the one opening up, not theirs. All in all though, it’s about time!
  6. Sounds to me like Celebrity is starting to transition back to pre-Covid times; or in other words, if you get sick on our boat, it’s your responsibility, not Celebrity’s, to get your butt home. And say good bye to FCCs. But…. I’m ok with being responsible for my own situation!
  7. Thanks for all the input. We are scheduled to fly into FLL on Sunday, boarding on Monday. Right now, it’s only me; my wife is not showing any symptoms. Hopefully it stays that way. I don’t expect that we will make this trip, but we will wait and see what happens. We will take our proctored test with Emed on Friday, and if negative, we will likely go. If positive, we will not. As I understand it, I need proof of Covid to cancel and get refunds/FCC so I need to do the proctored test anyway. I’ll probably take a couple self-tests as we get closer to gauge the probability, and go from there
  8. Hi all - I’ve been feeling crappy the last couple days with cough and stuffed up head; and this morning I self-tested positive for Covid. What’s the latest process? Do I keep quiet and hope the official proctored test comes up negative, contact Celebrity or my celebrity vacation planner to work through it, or is there some timeline that I need to be aware of to push refunds /FCCs/ Celebrity Air refunds taken care of - Thanks, Gary PS: I’m scheduled on the Equinox for 10 days starting Aug 29.
  9. Our cruise departs on the 29th of Aug, and our luggage tags and all are E-Docs are showing pending, not able to be printed out. I know you can get them at the port, but that is an un-needed hassle. To me, it’s just another brick in the wall for celebrity. They need to restore their services to pre-Covid levels, and quit making excuses
  10. I usually book concierge class on Solstice class (Equinox) because I like the cabin locations available. That is really the only reason, although daily snacks, and a cheap bottle of bubbly to enjoy as we sail away the first day is a plus. I don’t like cabin locations for aqua, and don’t think Blu is worth it. I would rather save the money I invested in being able to eat in Blu and invest it in Specialty dining. Gary
  11. I am aware of the ability to get dockside, but have not experienced it before, and this isn’t my first rodeo.
  12. Hello all - all checked in for my Aug 29 cruise a couple weeks ago and printed out my express pass; but for some reason it is not possible to print out my e-docs or baggage tags. E-docs link is grayed out and for baggage it just says pending. I have a confirmed cruise and my cabin is locked in, but these items aren’t available. Anyone else seeing this issue? I’ve been on a lot of Celebrity cruises and this is unusual. Gary
  13. Just to clarify if you are nor aware - Celebrity does not send out cruise docs like the “good old days”. They are available online, usually around timing of final payment.
