Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. No time to see anything plus we will need to get up very early to catch an 8 am flight!
  2. Thanks for the info, we are on the 5/15/24 cruise also. Do you have any information on the time the charter flight to Sydney departs Honiara, Guadalcanal (if you end your cruise in Honiara)? I hope it's later in the day so we can visit some of the WW2 battle sites. Thanks
  3. Was snorkel gear available onboard (I realize on an Antarctic trip there probably was much snorkeling!) Thanks
  4. We have our own gear but sure hope we don't need to bring fins! (as you stated)
  5. We are booked on an expedition cruise (the Pursuit) in May to Papua New Guinea and snorkeling is one of the included activities. I could not find on the Seabourn site if snorkel gear (mask, fins, snorkel) are provided/available onboard or if you need to bring your own equipment. I sure hope it's provided as bringing our own equipment will be a pain. Has anyone experienced snorkeling on one of the expedition ships? Bill
  6. Thanks! I just signed up for the Kayaking. The "assignment" of day/time for Kayaking being later on in the cruise was noted deep into the excursion info for our cruise.
  7. As you were going Kayaking on your cruise, I was wondering how they handled the Kayaking. We are on the May 15th South Pacific/ Papua New Guinea cruise starting in Guam. They list kayaking as a $200 "excursion", but only have it listed for Guam, none of the other stops/islands/ports. Did they offer Kayaking at multiple stops (weather/sea conditions excepted) on your cruise? Did they only show the Kayaking as an 'excursion' at one port, but had availability to choose the location you wanted to kayak? Any information is appreciated.
  8. We are on the May 15, 2024 cruise from Guam to Papua New Guinea/Solomon Islands. Will you be on this cruise? I have the same questions on the availability of SCUBA and Kayaking
  9. We are booked on the Pursuit in May from Guam to Papua New Guinea. In addition to questions on the scuba program (they list scuba as an activity (along with Snorkeling) at most of the ports/islands to be visited) I also have questions on the availability of kayaks. The itinerary/excursions ($200 excursion to kayak) only lists kayaks as being available in Guam, where we board the ship. It's hard to believe that they can't offer kayaking at the other stops(weather/sea conditions excepted). We took an Antarctic cruise with Silversea and kayaking was offered at most stops except those with weather/sea condition problems). The information on the Seabourn site is very much lacking with regard to the expedition cruises.
  10. I am looking to book a cruise on Sawn Hellenic ship Vega to Greenland/Northwest Passage Sept. 2024. Wondering if anyone has any experience with the cruise line/ship. Very little info here on CC about the company. Thanks!
  11. Nice to know we won't miss the fireworks, but our main concern is the 6 & 8 yo grandkids. They usually have an 8 - 9 bedtime and with late dinner starting at 8:15 this may be a problem. The themed dinners are one of the highlights for the kids. I'd rather have the kids tired for the show (early dinner) than during dinner. Still hoping we can get the first seating, but don't have much hope.
  12. We will be taking our grandkids on the Wish for a 4-night cruise in September. Just realized we are on the late dinner seating (8:15 on this ship). The kids will be 6 & 8 and the late seating will not be good for the kids as it's not much earlier than their usual bedtime; we live on the east coast so a change in time zone won't apply. The themed dinners are a highlight for the kids and it seems that the earlier seating is much better plus you get to possibly do things after dinner (such as the fireworks that I am sure will be shot off during the late seating). We are on a waitlist for the early seating. What are the chances we get a switch to the early seating? Any other ideas on how to get into the early seating? Thanks for any help/advice you might have. Bill
