Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. New to Holland America, have two cruises booked, one in January 2024 and the other in June 2024. I booked the latter cruise first and was able to book June shore excursions through HAL's website. After booking the January cruise, I was able to book dining reservations for the January cruise through Navigator, but I can no longer access Manage my Cruise for the June cruise through the website or Navigator, despite both bookings showing up on both the website and in Navigator. My question... Navigator seems to work fine for me for the January cruise, but every time I log on to Navigator, the January cruise loads. Is there any way in Navigator to switch between bookings? I want to review excursions and be able to book specialty dining once it opens. Or is Navigator stuck on January until that sailing has come and gone? Hopefully someone has multiple HAL cruises booked and can comment on Navigator. Thanks in advance for any assistance you can offer.
  2. Our first Holland America cruise coming up. We are trying Holland in large part because I love live music and I'm excited about the various live music venues. As I'm currently making dinner reservations in the specialty restaurants and have Anytime Dining otherwise, I was wondering... Is is difficult to get seats in the live music venues, i.e. is it necessary to eat on the early side (5:00 or 5:30 p.m.) to get seats or is there enough turnover into the evening that seats can be obtained later? Thank you.
  3. New to Holland America... Our cruise is a month or two less than one year away. Excursion bookings are listed for most ports, but specialty dining booking indicates not available yet. Is there a set time pre-cruise when specialty dining reservations open up? Thank you.
  4. It was a lot of fun, for kids and adults. The ship has been re-outfitted so there is essentially bleacher seating affording good views for all. The tour guides were engaging, funny, informative without it being like a science classroom. It was interactive in that audience members could participate in some of the demonstrations if they chose to do so, and tour guides were great in making sure everyone got as close a view of the different crabs as you wanted (hold them, look at them, etc. No idea if they still do this, but at one point, we cruised over to an island and they started throwing fish up into the air and immediately we had a dozen or more bald eagles flying around, grabbing the fish out of mid-air. It was spectacular. For what it is worth, I grew up in the northwest, so a lot of this was not too out of the ordinary for me, but I thought it was great. My wife, from Kentucky, loved it. I think you will also.
  5. Highly recommend The Bering Sea Crab Fisherman's Tour as well. Wife and I did it four years ago, probably our favorite excursion on our Alaska cruise in any of the ports. Thinking of doing it again on our Alaska cruise this coming July.
  6. Absolutely! Four nights just prior to the cruise, two more nights post-cruise before heading home after four nights in Melbourne.
  7. With our stated departure so late - 6:45 p.m. (late compared to other cruises we have done), anyone have any sense of when boarding is likely to begin on March 15th? I understand the order of boarding is determined by cabin class and/or status, but just trying to get a general idea of when boarding is likely to begin. Asking, as we are trying to decide what, if anything, we plan to do in Sydney that day. Thanks for any insight or information you may have.
  8. Is it best to contact Celebrity through my Travel Agent or contact them myself? We just booked yesterday, the day before this sale. Our cabin prices out the same under the sale, but with $400 more onboard credit.
  9. Looking at a TransPacific cruise from Honolulu to Sydney in October. Would be interested in comments from anyone who has done the same or a similar route in the Fall as to sea conditions (calm vs rough days) and weather. We love lots of sea days when we can be comfortably poolside. Just not familiar with what to expect on such a route. Thanks for any input you can provide.
