Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. No. The ship did not admit to there being an outbreak. The passengers were not informed of active covid cases as we were last fall aboard the Surf. There was no mask requirement, except among crew.
  2. Alex, I am pretty sure Windstar continues to test the crew and isolate the positive cases. I don't know what company policy is for when they can leave quarantine. I didn't call to let them know we tested positive after leaving the ship. There didn't seem to be any talk about covid regulations, not even on the health center's page. Unlike our trip with them last fall, they did not mention any positive cases onboard, or covid at all, for that matter.
  3. It was an 11 day cruise. I had a negative PCR test the day before boarding and masked on the airplane and on the train to seward. Soon after we got on the Breeze, we learned through the grapevine that crewmembers had had covid, were recovering, etc. I remember sitting close to someone on a tender on day 3 that was coughing and unmasked. Since I tested positive on day 12, it is very unlikely that I cought covid before the trip.
  4. We tested positive after disembarking the Star Breeze last week. 6 out of 7 of our new onboard friends also caught covid onboard. I believe the quarantined cabins had room service tables outside. We noticed at least a dozen on deck 5 and another on 4. Two crew members that we had been in contact with also disappeared until the end of the cruise. It would be interesting to know the number of effected passengers. From the amount of coughing I heard, I am guessing many didn't get tested in the clinic for fear of being forced into quarantine. As I said in another post, sail prepared to catch covid with any medications you would need.
  5. Yes, they did it on the Star Breeze last week and the Wind Surf last fall. It was the best!
  6. Yes, the crew, with the exception of the singers were masked up. I would guess 1/3 of the guests came to the talks and entertainment masked, but close to none wore them in the dining rooms. We masked at the port talks, but foolishly not on desk or in other public areas.
  7. My partner and I just got off the Star Breeze in Vancouver on the 19th and tested positive for covid. We were far from the only ones. Crewmembers had it on the previous voyage and were taken out of quarantine for our trip, only to have new ones get sick and go into isolation. You could tell by the number of room service tables that were placed outside of cabins which were effected. Two weeks ago I would have been doing a happy dance when I heard this news. Finding a test pre-cruise was extremely difficult in Utah where I live. Your takeaway should be PREPARE TO CATCH COVID on your cruise. Bring any cough, cold, fever reducing medicine that you think you will need. We are healthy and fit and quadruple vaxxed and thought we were immune from getting "bad" covid, but we were wrong. It's really miserable.
  8. Help! Flying out tomorrow night to Anchorage for an August 8th cruise, and the covid testing site that we had an appointment with shut down. Will Windstar accept NAAT tests, like those given by Walgreens? No rapid antigen tests at all in Salt Lake City for travel, and it is too late for PCRs.
