Long ago in a past life (business life that is) I attended a data security conference. One of the key speakers was a guy names Ed Amaruso (I think) who was the chief security officer for ATT. In a key note speaker h he talked to the plan (never happened) where the internet was two distinct levels, one for everyone and one much more structured and secure. There are was of addressing security now which is really a hybrid of his plan but his offered lots more. We are where we are.
My point is that those things I mentioned are things they have to pay for in addition to everything they have ever provided (things like you mentioned). They have to pay for starlink. A lot. Internet is DEF not a necessity, it is a luxury. To ask to have them raise fares for all so that the few are not burdened (and in fact openly state they do not want it) is fool hardy at best.
Sorry I was not more clear. I was really looking for something on cruise line (or any sea farer vessels) responsibilities when finding adrift crafts at sea.
I have a hard time thinking that it is equal. Cruisers pay list fare for their cruisers and what their loyalty program attainment is baed in that. Casino programs highly discount (according to some, they are free) rooms and this counts exactly the same. Apples and elephants.
When they went to the no tablecloth look, they added new tabletops, that presented a finished wood like appearance (do not really know the composition). While it was an adjustment, it is now the norm. Not a biggie by any means.
There is a reason that an overloaded boat is out floating in the Caribbean Sea. Nobody gets picked up that does not want to. I have witness three of these. In every case (and I am sure it was the case here) once spotted they were asked in they needed assistance. It is a requirement, but I am sure our local expert could chime in.
That is why options are always a good thing. For the record, if and when they do this, the segments would in all likelihood not be months at a time, but more like 3 to 4 weeks.
