Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. This is good to know. Thanks for mentioning it. I didn’t realize that some new releases were priced lower initially. May I ask how you monitor this? Via notification from your TA, Seabourn email or through your own search?
  2. Yes, I know. I was part of those discussions. I thought it was a mistake, but was happy to take advantage of it. I doubt it will ever be repeated.
  3. We are booked on a 25 day Seabourn Istanbul to Dubai cruise in 2025. Got an incredibly great price when we booked via our UK TA, which includes business class air out of London. We booked a V3 and waitlisted for a Penthouse. We were recently notified that the waitlist cleared for a Penthouse, but at the price of over 17,000 pounds sterling! We paid less than 30% of that amount including the business air for the V3. Needless to say we stuck with the V3. The original Penthouse price was much less than half the current 17,000£ price,
  4. Your itinerary should provide you with a departure time from Gozo and an arrival time in Valletta. If not then contact Seabourn and ask.
  5. I can guarantee that for $2000 - $2800 US$ per night, that I can find a much more luxurious and better land holiday than on a Seabourn ship. Maybe it’s time to give up that cruise for a while and experience some of the best hotels/resorts around the world.
  6. Of what benefit is a 10% discount on a future cruise given that prices have recently been significantly increased? The new cruise would be much more expensive than the cancelled one, even with the small 10% savings offered.
  7. That sofa was ugly when it was brand new! The lack of cushions on it makes it feel like a cheap waiting room (rumply) bench. And the color…well, I guess it hides past sins.
  8. I follow/research prices and itineraries using a popular online TA website, rather than on Seabourn’s website (which we all know is not user friendly). This online TA often has lower prices than on the Seabourn website, so that is where I was getting my pricing from. For that Sojourn cruise, Seabourn’s website price might have been higher at that time. Once I research using the online TA site, I go back to my full service TA and get them to match the online TA price if I’m ready to book the cruise.
  9. The price increases are now dramatic…two examples: Oct 26/24 on Soujourn (21 days) - Before, approx $7500 for V1 and now $12900. Nov 9/24 Ovation crossing (21 days) - Before, approx $6300 for V1 and now $10,700. It is now “a sale beyond” reason. Seabourn, please don’t try to pass off a price increase as a so called “sale”. Just be honest like some cruise lines do and say “ prices will increase on xxx date”.
  10. I had been considering a few 21+ day itineraries for the Oct/Nov 2024 timeframe and noticed prices went up on March 1 by approx 10%. So I think it was a broader price increase vs surge pricing due to limited availability for certain cruises. I’m unsure why Seabourn sent an email on March 1 to extend the sale, only to implement a price increase on the same day?? At current price levels, it appears not to be any sale.
  11. Are you flying domestic or trans border out of Vancouver? If directly to the US, you will need to clear US Customs in Vancouver. Allow more time for this. If you have Nexus/Global Entry then it will be faster. Taxis and Ubers are plentiful in Vancouver so that should not be a worry. You could always pre book an Uber in advance to be sure.
  12. My question is…now that Seabourn has partially chartered out its expedition ships to an Australian company, how does one book one of those cruises? Is it a partnership with Seabourn? Or must you only book those cruises exclusively through the Australian company? For many, including myself, booking through an Australian company would not be the same as booking through Seabourn, and likely not an option for those outside of Australia. Perhaps someone has this answer to this….why would Seabourn build two new beautiful expedition ships only to turn around and charter them out? Is it solely a money play? If so, then I really question their corporate strategy. I wish Natalya would answer this glaringly obvious question.
  13. I had wondered why Natalya flew all the way to Sydney, just for an event for the next leg of the world cruise. I thought it was a nice thing to do, but now we know the real reason. Did this new arrangement come up in her Q&A with the world cruisers? What did she say? I’m guessing not as it was announced shortly after Sojourn left Sydney.
  14. The problem with Regent promotions is that they are normally not combinable. This means that you can’t combine a “zero single supplement” offer, with another sale offer that Regent has. We found this out when a friend wanted to join us on a Regent cruise. When we got the price quote for her, it was much much higher than double occupancy price. It took over an hour on a three-way conference call between me, my TA and Regent. Regent couldn’t understand, and i repeatedly asked: why is the zero single price not the same as the double price? Finally after going in circles, I asked if the offers were combinable and Regent rep woke up and said a flat No. So it was a zero single supplement on a full priced cruise, not the discounted sale rate. Our friend did not book that cruise as a result,
  15. I would have a hard time enjoying a cruise if I felt the cruise line unnecessarily took advantage of me. I would cancel and tell them to stick it….and get my money back.
