We are on Holland and will overnight Oct 23 to 24th in Salerno. I've been trying to research where to go from here but am getting so much information its difficult to sort out what towns to see and how best to get there. Our only experiences in Italy are on a prior cruise in 2019 - we were in Rome, Naples and Sicily, so not in this area at the time. We visited Pompeii at the time. We don't mind taking local transportation and would like to see the "touristy" places as well as the local towns and their culture. I see people suggesting Sorrento, Positano and Amalfi. I've known of Amalfi but not so much Sorrento and Positano. Any suggestions? We are also in Salerno for one day on November 8th for this cruise - 7:00 am to 4:00 pm Thinking this date would be better to stay around Salerno. ??

We have never had Istambul as our port - we have an overnight there in October - 2023. We are pretty good walkers - are most of the sights doable on foot and without a guide? Spice Market - Bazaar, etc.? Any recommendations?

Thanks for the replies. I had thought of missing a specific ferry time but not of the port closing or ferries being cancelled. Thanks for the comments, think we will leave Playa for another vacation!

We are on the Norwegian Breakaway Feb 5th and are in Cozumel on Feb. 10th. I noticed a tour called the Amazing Secret River with cave/swimming and then it went to playa for the rest of the day for shopping etc. I've been to Playa before (5 or 6 years ago) and enjoyed the shops and restaurants on 5th Avenue. However, the tour is full - so I am interested in the Playa Del Carmen ferry - it runs every 2 hours. We are in port from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm so I don't think getting back in time would be a problem. Would probably leave about 10 am and plan to return by about 4:00 p.m. Has anyone taken the ferry before? And how was it for time and convenience. Thanks
