  1. Oh, I do...believe me!!! I was just making a comment on what a nice service it was to have umbrellas available. jsglow - We caught a good sale for our 7 night cruise to the Caribbean on Oceania. It cost us approximately $1700 more total (two persons) compared to our rate for the 5 night cruise on the Sunshine. On the Sunshine, we are in an OV. On Oceania, we were in their smallest Suite/with a veranda. Brand new ship with a fabulous bathroom! Also included in that price (though you can say that we really purchased it) was Beer & Wine with meals, $600 in excursions (3 excursions pp), and 4 specialty restaurants for two. Our TA gave us $200 in OBC for that sailing. We are getting nothing with our Carnival booking. Perhaps a tad more than the Carnival cruise (remember I am comparing 5 nights to 7 nights), but one needs to compare apples to apples when pricing cruises.
  2. The umbrellas are for the rain, not sun.๐Ÿ˜„ I hope to get even a little bit of sun! When on Oceania last week, we not only had umbrellas in our stateroom, but there was a long rack of them as we disembarked for shore excursions. I thought that was a nice touch. The kids will have sun shirts that should keep them a bit warmer if going on the slides. I will pack the same beach tote that I took last week for the pool area. Oceania did not give out totes to anyone other than those that have status or suites. HAL places a cheap cloth bag in all staterooms on the first day. Celebrity used to do the same. We have not cruised with Celebrity since the May before Covid. All totes used to be nicer than the cheap cloth bags. At least the cloth is something.
  3. Does Carnival leave a cloth type bag or tote in staterooms for guest use? Trying to decide if I need to pack a tote for sunning items around the pool or to go ashore. Are umbrellas provided? We have no status and are in an OV stateroom on the Sunshine (sadly, without much sun in the forecast.) Also, does the temperature need to be a certain degree for the slides to be opened? I fear that it may be too cold for my grandchildren to use this next week. I believe that sea days will definitely be out, and embarkation day is only getting up to around 60 in Charleston. But hoping that they can try the slides out in Nassau (high 73) or Freeport if the rain forecast changes (high 77).
  4. Is the Sunrise built the same as the Sunshine? My understanding is that the Sunshine's doors and walls are not metal, but the trim around the exterior side of the door is. I was planning on having to put Easter magnets on the ceiling for my grandchildren when on board the Sunshine next week.
  5. Iโ€™ll ask about but it seems strange that it would be cool enough during the day but get hot during the night.
  6. If I run into my neighbor I will ask if he can hear our TV. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Now, can we talk about the hot staterooms at night. We have our air down to the lowest cool setting, do not leave the balcony door open, and we keep the curtains closed all day. The room seems fine during the day. I can barely sleep at night and have been waking up in a sweat this week. ๐Ÿ˜•
  7. I am currently onboard Vista in cabin 8099. I am 66 years old and have exceptional hearing (according to a recent required hearing test after a car accident brain injury), but I have always been able to hear things that others ( including my husband ๐Ÿคจ) could not. I am very annoyed by sounds and find them very distracting. I call it sensitive ear syndrome. For instance, I came close to throwing a sunbathing cruiser overboard because of her annoying nose sniffling instead of taking the time to blow her nose. ๐Ÿ™€ Having said all the above, I can hear talking from the neighboring stateroom (on the TV wall), but surprisingly, the talking is not loud enough or distinct enough to annoy me. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป I am hearing nothing from the other stateroom or from the hallway. I do hear when the neighbor closes the stateroom door. I did a few sound test: While standing in the middle of the stateroom, I can hear the male voice better than the female voice, yet I cannot make out any of his words. It does sound like yelling because he talks loud. I have heard him when on the balcony. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ The second test was putting my ear to the wall. Surprisingly, I can hear less of the sound. However, I noticed when taking my ear away from the wall that the sounds appear to be coming from the edge of the ceiling. Perhaps the walls and the ceiling do not come completely together up there and the crown (trim) covers this gap. We have heard no TV sounds at all. Perhaps they do not turn it on. We have been conscious to keep our voices and TV volume down though my DH is not happy when I tell him that the TV is too loud. ๐Ÿคซ So in closing, my fears about the reported noises, before coming onboard, were for naught. ๐Ÿ˜‰
  8. We were in Club Orange on the N. Statendam and loved the experience! Looking forward to dining there on the Rotterdam. The perks such as priority tendering and a stateroom upgrade were an asset, but we mostly enjoyed the small dining room atmosphere. Club Orange offers the same menu as in the MDR, plus one extra entree each evening. Breakfast is also a delete. No lunch is served there.
  9. I am the same way. I like to enjoy my food. After eating with others, I can't even remember what I had to eat. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ What a wonderful idea to top your salad with some beef from the carving station. I have a salad most days when we cruises. Sometimes I make it a taco salad. The tri-tip will elevate the protein needed for some of those exhausting excursions around Europe. We sail the Rotterdam in May. Enjoying your review very much!!!
  10. I was more worried about the pool collapsing. ๐Ÿ˜
  11. Looking forward to reading the review and taking a look at your fabulous photos! As for the infinity pool overlooking Singapore's highways and city, that will be a huge NO for me!!! I have anxiety just looking at that photo. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ
  12. Has anyone cruises in 2024 and received a different tile from the 150th Anniversary series? I received that tile last May. Would like to get a tile of the Rotterdam ship that we will be on this coming May. I did not receive one on my first HAL cruise, although I had sailed with both Carnival and Princess at that time. My parents, who were also sailing, were star members. They gave me a tile. I have posted my tile collection before (some from my parents days, and one from my grandparents.) They have changed since I took this photo. I know have the 150th tile in place of one of the duplicates. And a N. Statendam tile in place of a duplicate.
  13. Thank you so much! This takes a huge load off of me when I try to check-in at midnight somewhere in the Caribbean. ๐Ÿ˜ I have been trying to gather all of the information that I needed to fill-in information for two different cabins. One passenger (my roommate) has been cooperative, while the other ( a party of 3) has ignored my request to send me passports, birthdates, etc., so that I can take it with me next week.
  14. "I checked for our cruise and the website kept crashing so I went straight to pick a boarding time." Did you mean to say "checked-in" for your cruise? If so, are you saying that you were able to go straight to "pick a boarding time" without filling out all of the check-in information, first? My check-in is coming up next week. Trying to be prepared as I will be sailing on another cruise (Oceania) at that time and Internet could be spotty.
  15. We will be on the same cruise. I like to use THIS site for weather info on each day of our cruise.
