  1. The corkage fee has absolutely nothing to do with who actually opens the bottle. It is something that is charged by a facility when you bring a bottle of wine that is otherwise sold by them. This is commonly misconceived. Having said that, I’ve yet to hear of anyone being charged this on a cruise.
  2. Nope, going to Bermuda. Even without a drink package, with early dining and the fact that one can only get drinks in a bar from 5-7 and not in the restaurant like with Royal, I’m still not seeing any perks with being Elite.
  3. I’m going on an X cruise in June which will be my first in many years. I will be Elite by virtue of my Royal status but quite honestly don’t see any benefits to this. The group I am going with includes a classic beverage and WiFi, taking early dinner so anything that takes place at 5:00 would not work. Have never used the laundry service and, frankly, wouldn’t trust having my clothes boiled. I really see no benefit in being Elite. Am I missing something?
  4. Since when does everyone have to purchase the soda package??? As far as I know, if one person purchases the alcohol package then everyone else in the cabin over 21 must also purchase it (or can call and purchase the refreshment package instead) but not everyone has to purchase the soda or refreshment packages.
  5. Typical ambulance chaser strategy - throw everything against the wall and hope some of it sticks. Gotta blame someone (certainly not the person who booked the excursion and jumped into the shallow water) so go for the one with the deepest pockets and you might get lucky.
  6. Look at it this way - if you were waiting patiently in the suite line and the person in front of you decided that it was okay to bring eight additional passengers who are not in a suite along with them to check in, how would you feel?
  7. See post #6 - it cannot be done in the USA.
  8. I am also Elite due to having Diamond status on Royal Caribbean and will be sailing with a friend who does not have status. I know that I can share my included drinks with her on Royal, but how would this work on Celebrity? Neither of us is a big drinker.
  9. I don’t understand why you can’t book connecting cabins without a travel agent. In any event, the balcony dividers on Adventure do not open.
  10. And this is probably why they changed the rule to one per adult. Whenever people try to scam the system, and even boast about it on public forums, eventually the powers that be wise up.
  11. I live about 35 miles from LGA. Drove there one day in 45 minutes. Next day it took 2-1/2 hours. You just never know (which is why I avoid going there at all costs).
  12. Definitely. Even bottled water or a fancy coffee. For me, I don’t drink juices, soda or coffee and have no problem with tap water so the 4 alcoholic drinks per day are just fine.
  13. No, that’s a dog breed. The cat is a Sphinx. Surprisingly, they are not hyper allergic.
  14. So very happy for you. Hopefully everyone has learned a valuable lesson from your experience. I’ll never forget a situation some years ago - father decided to not book his 16 month old in advance to avoid shelling out the deposit money, figuring he could be added closer to sailing date. Yup, lifeboat capacity was full and he was unable to add the child. His wife was hysterical, especially since they had no one to leave the baby with and still take the cruise.
  15. There’s a young widow who posts frequently on the family boards. She often sails with her twins and always carries her late husband’s death certificate even though she has passports for the kids. Sometimes they ask and sometimes they don’t but much better safe than sorry.
