  1. No, we disembarked in Buenos Aires on the 6th. My son-in-law's iPhone was stolen right outside of the port on the 5th. When he was calling for an Uber a guy sped by on a bike and grabbed the phone right out of his hand. Luckily no one was hurt. My daughter and son-in-law thought that Buenos Aires was the worst city that they've visited safety-wise, and they've been to some sketchy places around the world. We stayed at the Marriott downtown which was fine. Had to stay an extra night, because our flights home on COPA Airlines were on Boeing 737 Max 9's that were grounded by the FAA. We scrambled to find replacement flights and returned to California after an exhausting twenty-four hours of travel, a rough ending after a great cruise.
  2. Wow. Unacceptable. We had an awful two-hour embarkation experience on the Eclipse in Valparaiso on December 23. It was my 53rd cruise and the worst ever boarding, with long lines in the chaotic terminal and then a long wait on the shuttle bus to the ship. The worst of it was my scary wheelchair ride up the dangerously steep gangway. Then there was another wait as we stepped onboard while all of our names were radioed for approval. I had a meeting with the Guest Services Director Marina (after a second request to Guest Services). She listened to my story and explained some of the challenges that Celebrity had that day. The immigration authorities required immediate passport collection onboard, which slowed everything down until Celebrity negotiated a day's extension (midway through the day) to collect them. The changing tide made a lower (and safer) gangway unusable. Data transfer from the terminal to ship had delays. She sincerely apologized, and said that they would work to do better. Then she treated my family of five to dinner at Murano's. Please speak to her about your embarkation experience. Celebrity needs to hear from us when something is unacceptable, or they won't change a thing.
  3. In the past six weeks I've spent 22 days on the Royal and 7 days on the Crown, and ate most of my meals in the MDRs. Everything was really good, especially the seafood, the beef tenderloin (which I had four or five times) and the prime rib (twice). The one entree that wasn't good was overcooked mahi mahi which was quickly replaced. My first Princess cruise after the COVID shutdown was on the Ruby Princess in October 2021, and I joked that the beef must have been in the freezer for almost two years because it was just awful. Now I think that the food on Princess is comparable to Celebrity's. My only complaint was too few vegetables, but I just asked for more. All of these pictures are from the MDR on the Royal.

  5. The crab cake appetizer and the lobster casserole entree were amazing on the Apex two weeks ago! I wouldn't call it a lobster "casserole" though - it was delicious chunks of lobster over some vegetables and sauce.
  6. Loved the Elite Coffee Lounge on the Apex, which was in Le Grand Bistro from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. daily. This is the Ultimate Platter.
  7. I'm on the Apex and there was an organized solo get-together on the first day (Saturday) at 5:00 pm in Eden. The host mentioned having another one, but it hasn't happened yet. They escorted seven of us to dinner in Cypress that night, and some of us meet to have dinner and see the shows together since.
  8. I often travel solo, and I highly recommend the Glion SNAPnGO for cruising and flying. I've had mine for 4 years and I've used it all over the USA, the Caribbean and Europe. This three-wheel scooter maneuvers easily on ships and has a battery range of 15 miles. When flying you can ride the scooter right down the jetway, take off the lithium ion battery (3 lbs.) and carry it on the plane. The scooter will be placed in cargo and delivered to your destination jetway, where you just reattach the battery and go on your way. The latest model 335 is available on Amazon @ $1,299 (same price as on Glion's site). The scooter frame with battery weighs just 31 lbs. and the current seat weighs 15 lbs. (my older one is 20 lbs.). It's easy for this senior lady to load the two pieces into the trunk of my Corolla. I usually get an accessible cabin, but if I don't I can drive this 22" wide scooter through the cabin doors of all but the very oldest ships (those were on Holland America, when I had to take it apart and lift it sideways through the door). If I don't have an accessible cabin with an automatic door, using a doorstop to prop the door open makes it much easier.
  9. True, we went to Bermuda so that's probably the reason. There were only 2 guests in quarantine for COVID from the first cruise (and 11 crew members), according to the Hotel Manager at the Captain's Corner.
  10. I just did a B2B on the Enchantment, (May 19 and May 27 sailings) and we were required to take a COVID test on the last full day of the first cruise.
  11. I upgraded on the Equinox on May 7, and the cost for two devices with the Elite discount was $126.00.
