Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. I booked a B1 guarantee and got a B1. I was satisfied with the location but was worried about the booking as we did not get a cabin assigned to us until a week before. In the future I would prefer to know my cabin # when I book. I doubt there is much chance of upgrades. But you could be the lucky one.
  2. The black Friday sale with simply more totaled a substantial savings from a cruise I booked on board almost a year ago. My travel agent had Oceania adjust the cost, add the $800 OBC for tours and also added more OB credits and pre paid gratuities through their agency promotion. I am a satisfied cruiser.
  3. I have worn my "cute" flip flops ( with bows) and slacks with a cute top and had no problem in the Main DR & specialty restaurant. My hubby refuses to wear a jacket but does wear long pants and a collared shirt (usually a Hawaiian shirt) in the evenings. Only saw a few jackets or "cocktail dresses " on our last three Oceania cruises. Mostly country club casual attire.
  4. You will get a questionnaire at the end of the cruise and a choice of buying a transfer to the airport usually on a bus.
  5. All the R class Penthouses are under Deck 9. Any experiences or suggestions as to noise ? Ex. Is it better to be under the Fitness center , pool area or Cafe?
  6. We had the basic beverage pkg on the Sirena. I assume they are the same on all the ships. Wine or beer with lunch and dinner. We enjoy wine with our meals and found there was a very nice selection to choose from. We chose the same package for our next cruise on the Regatta.
  7. The reported 2022 tough reviews seem to be fixed. We were on the Sirena in Jan 23 and everything was great. Food was excellent, service great. No complaints. The R class ships are old but love the intimacy of smaller ships. Nothing was very crowded except the Terrace cafe and Waves grille for lunch on boarding day.
  8. When we have ordered the same drink we got both for the price of one. It has never seemed to matter if it was for one or both of us. If they were different we got two of each for the price of two.
  9. We love lots of different red and white wines and got the basic beverage package. We were surprised on how many good wines ( in our humble opinions) were included. We were very pleased with the beverage service too. Usually did not have to ask for refills. They were serving a champagne but we don't drink it so I don't know if it was a good one.
  10. Stayed in Anchorage twice. One night before a Denali cruise tour on Oceania and another time for a cruise from Seward on Windstar. Anchorage was very nice. Good hotels and restaurants & museum. On a town drive back from Denali saw Moose on people's front lawns! The drive from Anchorage to Seward was lovely.
  11. We are also on the Sirena Jan.11.Got the two booklets and luggage tags but no documents. Instead we were E mailed by Oceania ( and our TA). We got instructions to print out our boarding passes ( had to e mail them pictures) ourselves. It was a bit of a nuisance but we got them done. They included our arrival time. This will be our first cruise since covid.
  12. Thank you again. That is very helpful. We like to know what to expect. We haven't cruised since covid started but are now ready to start again. Most of our recent cruises have been on Windstar but chose Oceania out of Miami for this January because we did not want to fly to an island for embarkation and really missed cruising. We retired and relocated from San Diego to Arizona 6 years ago so it will be great to be on the ocean again. In 2017 we did an Alaska cruise tour with Oceania and were very pleased with them.
  13. I was just curious around what time dinner is USUALLY served on Oceania. Thanks for the answer LHT. After 32 cruises we are well aware of the daily programs.
  14. What time does the main dining room usually open for dinner ?
  15. And when I was 65 I thought 80 was VERY OLD. Now I am 80 and would have been cursing a lot the last few years except for covid. Last cruise before covid we were 77 & 78 . Had a great time on the Windsurf! Have a cruise planned for Jan 2023.
