Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. We just finished 2 weeks in an SV cabin on the Apex. The room seemed larger and the real veranda was very spacious. We were in 8312 which is near the starboard center of the back. The veranda had a generous overhang which seemed larger than the one on the adjacent cabin closer to the starboard side. Soot never seemed to be a problem. There were some black soot marks on the cushions, but no evidence of soot while we were there. If you have mobility issues, be aware that it is a long walk from the stairs/lift area to the back. We counted about 140 steps each way. We loved this cabin would definitely book it again.
  2. To answer your question, no it is not normal to have to go to the bar to order a drink. I have read that staffing has been an issue lately and has had an effect on service. Possibly, that was the reason. That being said, we spent 14 days on the Silhouette this past June. We frequented the Ensemble Lounge and/or the Martini Bar every night and never once felt the need to go to the bar to order a beverage. So sorry you experienced this lack of service on your sailing. Be assured that this is not the norm on Celebrity ships.
  3. We just returned last month from a 2 week cruise out of Southampton on the Silhouette. We were surprised to see only a few dinner jackets and no kilts. Many of the ladies were in cocktail attire, but no long gowns. Most of the men wore coats either with or without ties. Tom wore a coat and tie, and I wore my little black cocktail dress. I think your boys will be comfortable in long pants and a nice shirt. Enjoy your trip.
