Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Charlie, I had the same thing happen. I asked to join the group and the moderator (if that's the correct term) responded that I had no pictures on my profile and was I a scammer. I assured her I wasn't a scammer, gave her my username on here and directed her to my profile/posts on CC and this thread specifically. So, it's not just you! (For the record, I only use that other site to sell things on their "marketplace" and for MyVegas.)
  2. I had this booked for my May cruise and unfortunately they cancelled it because it's a Bahamian holiday the day we'll be in port. I'm so bummed!
  3. I have a cove balcony booked on Venezia next summer. Carnival is currently offering a balcony guarantee for the same price I paid for my cove balcony, and I'm wondering if it's worthwhile to switch. Thoughts? TIA.
  4. What a helpful tool! Thank you for posting.
  5. I'm booked. My first solo cruise! I am also a bit nervous b/c of all the negative reviews so I'm trying to keep my expectations in check. This is my first time back on Carnival in about 20 years (all Royal Caribbean since then except for 2 on NCL).
  6. Someone just posted a Venezia review on the Carnival board that she didn't get onto HMC till 1pm because she was on tender #41. So it sounds like this definitely is a thing. She also said if you purchase an excursion (even the clamshells) you get an early tender ticket. Does anyone else have experience w/ this? I've been on the fence about booking a HMC excursion anyway, so if that gets me an early tender ticket, it might seal the deal for me.
  7. Thanks for this detailed review! I'm Diamond on RC and am taking my first Carnival cruise in 20 years - a 10-night - in May. Really appreciate the tips about where to find loungers and getting an early tender to HMC. I'm not looking forward to the lines at the buffet - Windjammer was always my breakfast go-to, so we'll see how that goes.
  8. Thank you both - I had no idea, so this is super helpful!
  9. Taking my first Carnival cruise in many years next year. I'm used to Royal Caribbean's check-in process, where you can just show up anytime regardless of the time they give you, since they don't pay attention to it. It sounds like Carnival doesn't work this way - correct?
  10. From the price, it sounds like you're booking this on Viator. On the vendor's own website, it's $75. Viator has a price match guarantee if you don't want to go through the hassle of canceling and rebooking (assuming you've already booked).
  11. I tried again and it didn't work for me (and I typed it in, not copy/paste). Glad it worked for you. My cruise isn't till next May so it'll probably be offered again. I'll just keep checking.
  12. I didn't have a chance to go back online last night to try again before it expired. I hope it worked for you!
  13. I just tried using that code with a Wifi package and a shore excursion in my cart, and got a "that code is not valid" message, although the code expires at 11:59 tonight. Has anyone had luck using it?
  14. I can't speak specifically to NCL's procedures, but I recently needed to disembark a Royal Caribbean cruise a few days early, in Civitavecchia on short notice. I had to leave my passport with Guest Services the day prior to disembarkation, and the morning the ship docked in Civitavecchia, I had to be cleared through customs (the disembarkation officer handled - which is why they needed my passport). After they cleared my passport, the disembarkation officer found me, returned my passport to me, gave me an "in transit" pass, and personally escorted me and my luggage off the ship. Hope this helps ... obviously your situation is different than mine, but I don't think you can simply show up with your stuff and walk off, like you said.
