Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Hi Holly! I just ordered a Land’s End Expedition Winter Down Parka that I hope will keep me warm.
  2. Hi Ken, looking forward to following along. What part of central Alabama are you from? We are on the Mississippi line close to Livingston. Do you have any advice about air? We are sailing next January so can’t book yet. Tillys mom (Virginia)
  3. Whale watching with Harv and Marv.
  4. Wow, I never considered that as an option. I am going to check now as New Orleans is closer than Atlanta and much easier to get to.
  5. Sorry about the lack of details. I can fly from BHM, MGM, or JAN. Birmingham seems to be the only one with much choice, so I have been checking flights there more than the others. I have points with AA but they want 112,000 points for a decent round trip choice. Thanks for your help!
  6. Thanks for the replies- at least now I know what I am facing. The airlines I have been looking at on EZAir (Princess) are AA, Delta, United, and Alaska. If I booked direct are there any other airlines that might have flights that I’m not seeing?
  7. What bugs me is that these short connections are the lowest priced, and sometimes the only option for that time of day. We are flying home on the same day the cruise ends, and almost all the choices after the recommended time (11 am) are 10 pm or later. I keep hoping new flights will be added but don’t know how likely that is.
  8. Have you been seeing very short connection times on domestic flights? We are sailing out of Seattle on May 26, 2024 so plan to fly in on the 25th. I am seeing 40 minute connection times in DFW, CLT, and PHL; and that’s just the the ones I looked at. We are older with knee issues, and don’t think we should even attempt these. I know that 40 minutes are considered adequate on domestic flights, but would you book one? Why are they even being offered?
  9. If you don’t need deluxe (love seat) the ones in the E420’s are good too.
  10. When you check the deck plans, look for balconies that are over the promenade deck. There are usually tables for Alfredo’s on one side and maybe The Catch on the other. These balconies have no obstruction looking out, but when you look straight down you will see the promenade deck. Some of these balconies are larger than a standard balcony too. The cabins not midship will have lifeboats either floor level, railing level, or above railing level- depends on the ship.
  11. So much depends on the chef. The same dish or meat can vary greatly. Was on Grand for 39 days this spring, and found the food to be extremely repetitive and not very good. The same dishes on the Enchanted in February were much better. Do the larger ships get better quality food, or do the source countries supply different quality? Maybe, but I think some chefs are better than others with the resources they have.
