Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Sailing on Anthem on March 31st. Curious about any recent cruisers' experiences... I haven't seen any mention of the bumper cars on any threads. Are these running? If not, what else happens in that space on the ship? Also, the only shows available for reservations are SPECTERA CABARET. Absolutely nothing is listed (either online or in the app) for reservation of shows. What has been the procedure for getting in to these productions each night? Thanks.
  2. Biker19, is this from your current experience at the Bayonne port?
  3. I have a similar question about embarkation times for CAPE LIBERTY in Bayone NJ port. The earliest check-in available was 12:30-1, and the ship departs at 3pm. (I checked in online on the first day it became available to do so...) I would certainly like to arrive at the pier much earlier (around 11AM). I know in the past the embarkation times were not checked, but have not cruised out of Bayonne in a few years. Does anyone have CURRENT info on whether the port staff check the boarding times on your paperwork? Thanks.
  4. Driving to Newark airport (or back to NYC terminal) would be crossing state lines so is very expensive even though it is probably less than 1/2 hour drive. $100 would about right.
  5. I called RCCL 2 days ago to ask this exact question regarding a sold out excursion and was told they do NOT keep unsold spots available upon boarding the ship. But they said you can email the excursion dept at shorex@rccl.com and request that they open up spots for you. It could work.
  6. People might also want to consider the West Side YMCA, located on 63rd Street off of Central Park West. Many of the rooms have a shared bath, but you can pay more for a private bath. It is a great location for sightseeing and near many subways and busses. It is also clean and safe.
  7. In response to @jumpjump, the provided soda cups do not seal. As per another's suggestion, you can bring your own sealable cup. You will need your RCCL soda cup however to work the machines, as your cup from home will not work for the soda machines. (Unless things have changed since my prior RCCL cruise about 18 months ago). Then you can put the empty RCCL cup and your personal sealed cup into your bag.
  8. I just looked back at the promo, (it is still being offered on my cruise), and in the semi-fine print is says: "Senior offer applies to guests age 65 or older." I agree with kernie968, they forget to count my wine consumption while on a cruise!
  9. Yes, the senior discount was being offered a few days ago for my cruise BEV PKGE (different from the booking of my cruise at a senior rate) In fact, I tried to get the senior discount for my daughter's cabin Deluxe Beverage Package also, but they said they did not qualify because they were not seniors. It did save me about $85 for my individual package cost. I don't know if the senior discount is still being offered but for those of you who are interested I hope it is.
  10. Hmmm. I just found another advertisement in my RCCL account that says: Package includes any single beverage item with a value of up to $14 for select ships and sail dates. I think they never updated the promo materials in some of what is being sent around to people booking now. So never mind, and thanks anyway.
  11. We are going on the Anthem in 2024 and wanted the bev. pckg to try all the wonderful drinks. There is a discount now for seniors. I looked at the menus and most of the mixed drinks are about $14 in all the bars. The Deluxe bev pckg that they are advertising now has this at the bottom: Deluxe Beverage Package includes any single beverage item with a value ofup to $12 for select ships and sail dates. Does this mean that most of those cocktails will have an upcharge?
  12. I was on a night snorkel in Bermuda about 10 years ago, that went with a dive operation that was located on the beach at Snorkel Park. Pretty sure this operation is no longer there. However, if you find an operator that runs these tours, I can tell you ours was amazing. We had lights on our heads of course, so you could see underwater. We saw a huge variety of sealife, including cuttlefish and a sleeping octopus!
