  1. This is good enough reason to stop in St Helena https://people.com/prince-edward-meets-192-year-old-tortoise-who-met-queen-elizabeth-1947-8548335
  2. The UK to South Africa (or vice versa) would be a great itinerary to more people if Cunard could add one or two more port calls. Too bad the political situation and limited port facilities keep this from happening. But Cape Verde seems like a no brainer.
  3. As I recall, there was some disagreement that caused the Capn to quit posting. I enjoyed his posts very much.
  4. Agree with your assessment and feelings. We take our best clothes on Cunard so can empathize with those unfortunate souls today who lost their things.
  5. Looking forward to reading your posts. Hope boarding goes smoothly and the rain doesn't cause problems. Bon voyage!
  6. I think your hunch is right on. Changing Sir Samuel's to a extra-charge steak restaurant gives Cunard revenue growth on their existing ships.
  7. The essence of this is that in order to grow the fleet the demographic 'tent' needs to grow too. And unfortunately for the current culture that means downgrading the classic Cunard experience to a casual, dress any-way-you like mentality. This is exactly what happened to Celebrity as they introduced the large Solstice class ships and more so with the even larger Edge class.
  8. Thank you for sharing. Good to know about Vietnamese tailors exist and are reasonable. How did you decide on the one you chose?
  9. Here's a discussion of Bright Lights in another thread about the new ship
  10. If the Koningsdam is any guide, the showers are glass enclosed.
