  1. We arrive in Barcelona on a Sunday in May off the RCCL Oasis……for us it is a port day but for the vast majority of the ship it is debarkation day and for a new set of travelers embarkation day. We simply need to go to Placa Real to pick up a walking tour. Too far to walk from the pier and I doubt a taxi in the queue would want to take us that short distance. Any advice……should we take the Cruise Shuttle Bus to the WTC and walk from there? Are there usually long lines to board the shuttle bus? Thanks for the help
  2. Thanks....good suggestions. It is the only sea day so we thought a more quiet venue just to meet some new cruisers
  3. One in our group called RCCL and they offered a room free of charge and coffee/danish service for $2.50pp
  4. The "forum" is a group of retired educators. It is not the forbidden forum you are thinking of. I joined Cruise Critic in 2005 and for many years it was invaluable. Today, for whatever reasons, very few seem to join roll calls any more.
  5. Hi…….we have a group of about 60+ from a different forum. Day #2 is a sea day…….Day #3 is a short port day in Barcelona because a large number of passengers are ending their cruise and new passengers embarking. Any thought on which day to plan our own little meet and greet and where on the Oasis to do this? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks
  6. How much, if any, should you tip the driver per person?
  7. Is it easy to get a taxi at the cruise port in Naples? We want to go to Piazza Dante to meet a walking tour.......looks like a 15 minute ride. Do taxis use meters or do you negotiate for a predetermined price? I know we can walk but we prefer taking a taxi and saving the walking for the tour and after. Is there a particular pier that RCCL uses? Thanks
  8. To further complicate things I believe you must board a shuttle from the dock to the terminal in La Spezia…….and yes Florence is too far for just a port day
  9. Very, very, very jealous☀️ is Carrer Sant Miguel a good route? thank you
  10. Hi Roger B………first, Happy and Healthy New Year and thank you for all of your advice. We port in Palma Monday, May 20 from 8-4. We have been there twice before. Our preference this trip is to take a taxi and arrive early at Mercat de l’Olivar…..there is a cappuccino with our names on it. About what would the taxi cost from the port? Euros or CC? Our main plan is to stroll, shop, grab some pastries, end up strolling through Placa Major, Pg del Born……would Carrer de Sant Miguel be a good route from Mercato Oliver or do you have other suggestions? Any other streets, plazas we should not omit? What would be a good end point around 2pm to grab a taxi back? Placa de la Reina? Thank you from New York City where we await rain, sleet and snow through Sunday☃️ cannot complain…….NYC has not seen any real snow since February 2022. Stay safe and thanks for your traveling guidance…….we do appreciate it❤️
  11. Going to try this question again. When we port in Barcelona large number of passengers are disembarking……heading to the airport, to hotels. There may be a large taxi queue. If we take the port shuttle to the WTC…..is it easy to get a taxi there? For us this is just a port day. Thanks
  12. Thank you. Unfortunately it is a short port day. We must return to the ship by 17,00h Appreciate any suggestions……….was not sure about Montserrat on a Sunday as we would not see the choir.
  13. My question pertains to Barcelona as a PORT STOP. We port off the Oasis on a Sunday at 6am because a large portion of the passengers will be ending their cruise and disembarking. Those of us who boarded in Rome are merely heading out for just the day to enjoy Barcelona. Conversely, a score of new passengers will be starting their cruise later that morning😳 So loads of passengers and their luggage coming and going much of the morning. What would be the best choice for passengers getting off the ship at about 9:00 to head out for their day in Barcelona. I’m guessing grabbing a taxi might be very difficult. Would the blue bus be a better option at least to get us to the WTC/Colombus Statue? We have been to Barcelona several times…….another option was to book a BarcelonaDay Tours half day to Montserrat? Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you and Happy New Year.
  14. Thank you We are not disembarking and are only meeting someone at Placa Reial. We can take the shuttle and then walk a few minutes
