Has Anyone had a cabin upgraded for carnival spirit in Australia?

My travel agent told me that automatic upgrade will only occur within the same category--ie--they move your room only within the same category cabin.

We had an automatic upgrade three days before sailing- we were given an outside quad cabin and we were originally in an interior quad cabin. I declined the upgrade as it was on deck 1 ( we were on deck 6) and the location of the upgraded cabin meant we were under the cool lounge/casino area and I didn't want any noise from thses areas.

thanks--that's what i guess mostly happens--upgrade in category but moving to position that is less favourable.
