Surfing in San Jose

We will be cruising first week of June with a group of 16. We wanted to get a private tour and head down to San Jose for the day. Would like to see the town and some of our group would like to rent surf boards and do some surfing. We would like to be able to get some drinks on the beach and have some shade available for the people who will not be surfing. Does anyone know if this is available on the beaches in San Jose? Costa Azul or zippers? Last May we went to Cerritos Beach and had a great time there,but the surf was4-6, when we were there, was a little too big for the beginner surfers in our group.

I would go to Old Man's by the Cabo Surf Hotel. It is a very gentle break, hence the name. Better surfers can paddle over to The Rock nearby.

Several choices for eating. Nothing fancy of course, but great tasting.

I always bring my own board so I have never rented, but the Cabo Surf Shop inside the Cabo Surf Hotel does rentals and that is directly in front of Old Man's.

How was it to bring your own boards? What was the process to bring them on the ship? Did you rent a car or ?? to get to a surf spot.

I am cruising in late September on the Carnival Splendor and my DD 10 yo is a beginning surfer. I would love to spend an afternoon while in Cabo surfing. I have a 6'4" and 9'0"
