Nassau/Atlantis advice needed!

Hello Everyone! My family is sailing on the Jewel of the Seas on November 19th, Thanksgiving week. There are six of us, my husband and I, and our four children, ages 16, 14, 11, and 7. Although we have cruised several times before, this is our first trip to Nassau.

We would like to visit Atlantis. I tried to get a room at the Comfort Inn (completely booked), and I can get rooms at Atlantis, but since it is Thanksgiving weekend, there is a two night minimum. And, with six of us, I would have to get TWO rooms for TWO nights (just over $1000!).

Does anyone have any suggestions? Should we go ahead and visit Atlantis anyway, knowing that we cannot use the pools/beach? Is it worth is just to visit the aquarium? What about the Dig? Do we purchase tickets for these at Atlantis? Is there a "cool" place to eat lunch at the resort? Any advice would be appreciated!

when you looked into the rooms did you call the hotel directly ?

What about sites like expedia? Sometimes they have space... I was jsut there for a quick tour the Atlantis and did the casino and saw the aquarium...

I can't tell you about the dig, but I can say I would not pay the fees to get in.. I would keep looking into the room idea

There are still several ways to see and enjoy Atlantis without having access to the pools. You can go to the DIGs for $29 pp. $21 for kids. Purchase tickets in the Casino. This allows you access to the lagoons and aquariums. There's plenty to see and enjoy.

If you want to spend some time on the beach, you could walk along the Casino Drive to the Public walkway to Access the beach. This is open to the public and free. You can rent a chaise for $10. It's the same beach as Atlantis and RIU.

You can also walk thru the Marina Village and shop, have lunch, check out the entertainment, ice cream etc. The marina itself is a site to see.. with all the mega yachts along the pier.

Lunch at Marina Village or across the street at Anthony's would be a good bet.

Now I need to decide if it's worth the $$ for just a few hours. I know the kids would be thrilled, but that's a lot of money. On the other hand, it's really not that much more than the ship excursions.

it actually comes out cheaper that a water park at Disney...............

$152.00 divided by 4 = $38.00

disney is in the $50's........................

I don't know about the waterpark, but we did the ships's tour of Atlantis and thought it was really neat. I think the tour took about 2 hours and went through the Digs and aquarium. If you are only there from noon until 6, I would eat lunch before you leave the ship and try to be in line to get off as soon as you can. That would still give you about 5 hours to spend there.

We're planning on doing the same Dec. 18 off the Carnival Valor!

Please keep in mind that the waterpark closes early in the winter months. The pool and slides shut down as dusk approaches. This can be as early as 4:40pm for mid December (shortest days of the year)

I'm in the same boat you are. With a family of 6 and only in port 1-7 is it enough time? ALSO, We'll be there during spring break, are the lines for slides sooo long that we'll just end up irritated??????
