How to dress? HELP???

What kind of dress is allowed on the Majesty. We have heard so many different things. Casual, no capris, no shorts at dinner? So confusing? HELP!!

Have not been on the Majesty, but I assume it is the same as all the other NCL cruises. That would be very casual during the day. In the evening men are expected to wear nicer pants (Docker type) and collared shirts. Women wear capris, pants, skirts and dresses. I believe it is what is referred to as "resort casual" most nights. Formal night is optional.

yep...it's "resort casual" for sure.

again this can still be up for interpretation. but based on my own style and how things "should be"...i would think of it like this...

let's say you are having a luncheon with your spouse and his corporate buddies...that's probably how your dinner attire should be.

i would probably rename it "corporate casual with a resort flare".

bottomline...just don't look sloppy.

Our 2nd cruise was on NCL. We thought it was a bit dressier than our 1st cruise on RCI. That said, almost anything goes as long as you're neat & clean. I say almost b/c there are rules agianst shorts & jeans in the dining rooms. You can wear them on other parts of the ship & of course ashore.

For formal night our group was a mix:

Men: tux, dresss shirt no jacket or tie, kilt, golf shirt

Women: short, long, sequins, pants, skirt & top.

We had a blast.

Nobody really cares how you dress but remember a cruise is an upscale vacation. Business casual w/ a resort flair is a good way to describe it. Would you be comfortable if everyone from work saw you in the outfit at a work function? If so you are dressed properly.

In the end, it is a vacation not an invitation to dine at the White House.

I have a similar question. Should we pack stuff for every night or just have stuff cleaned on the ship? I hate packing too much stuff.

by habit i overpack. dunno why. i just do. however, i found that i was in my bathing suits for 80% of this cruise. from the moment i wake up until dinner time i was in my swimming trunks. i brought 3...and i just rotated, handwashing them in the sink.

however, if you choose to do laundry service, keep your eyes peeled for the laundry special. on the Wind last week we found a bag in our cabin on Wednesday. basically the promotion was whatever you can stuff in that bag for $25. (MUCH cheaper that individual piece.)

SUZYQ = you and i may know casual from "casual". but that is why trish and i carefully defined exactly what resort casual should be. we shouldn't look like slobs. i mean sure we want to be comfortable...but we should still show some dignity and class.
